Are going to give N:TW a 90%, A, 100, whatever.
IMO, They literally did not say anything about E:TWs issues, problems, and bugs. Nothing, Not once did I read, heard, or watched of it. And I'll guarantee that they'll do it again

Only destruction of the enemy can be called victory

Hope they''l give it a more realistic mark, just to make the fans feel a bit better

Everyone would be wise to completely ignore any industry print/web reviews; don't even read them actually; and camp out here during the first two weeks after release and then make an informed purchasing decision.![]()
U're right. The community is the the best advisor.

I think it will Score lower because of the similiarities it will share with ETW.
The extra development time will allow us to finalize and polish Empire, making it the most accomplished and epic of the Total War series." said Kieran Brigden, Studio Communications Manager at The Creative Assembly. "There is a great deal of anticipation around Empire: Total War and we want to ensure that it is the benchmark for strategy games upon its release.![]()

Does anybody even still base their decision about wether or not to buy a pc game on reviews?
I'm with Sol Invictus. Wait a weak or two after the release and look in this forum. On the reaction in this forum, i will decide to get NTW or not.
There are no bugs in ETW! The AI works perfectly! We will win! -Comical Keiran
i think that professional reviews are total crap due to the link between ad revenue, sales, and game reviews.
peon - great sig. subtle and yet scathing.
well someone has to buy it in the first place![]()
From what I've read and heard of, I'd say TCA's making an incredibly effort and had made incredible changes this time around. They even fired their old AI developer due to the poor AI in E:TW, and hired a completely different (and hopefully better) AI coder.
Going off-topic a bit, if they want a good AI developer, they should work with Paradox Interactive, a strategy game designer that's made some of the best AI you can find in a game, on N:TW.
haha was just going to say the same about hiring darth, what he has done with just fiddling around with stats and scripts have accomplished has given us the real battle AI, in the current version it is really the real deal and are at an acceptable level.
Now think what he could do if he had acces to everything (which he seems quite enthuastic about regarding mod tools etc)
I really hope like you're saying that NTW will be much much better.
One HUGE thing i think they have done is actually their pricing of the product. Its not like modern warfare or left for dead 2 with the prices being even double that of the original game without adding much content.
I really think NTW is failry priced and i love that they did that. And will be one of the key cornerstones to me buying the game.
I predict a score between 80%-85%
Reviews will go something like
Pros
>improved amazing graphics and effects etc
>AI challenging and battles and AI director has improved on ETW
>campaign great fun new features make AI and game even more challenging
>improved diplomacy
>evolution of the ETW game
>new units are cool
>"multiplayer mode" nice addition
>campaign map more beautiful and pretty and everything innit?
>Imperial edition comes in a pretty box and has an A4 wikipedia printout biography of napoleon, shiny DVDs, and a polystone replica of Napoleons genitals.
Cons
>only evolution of ETW, not a huge difference
>clone armies
>some graphical glitches
85% Recommended Buy
I have also noticed there is a direct inverse correlation between the intelligence of the professional reviewer and the score. So a mentally retarded, extremely intellectually challenged reviewer who is less able to think than others might give it over 90%, while a mildly brain damaged reviewer might only give it 80%.
Bobbo was given an exclusive tour of CAs offices in 2009. I'm delighted to share my experiences with a behind the scenes look at ETW, including interviews, photographs of the ETW team at work and also the state of the art computing facilities, episode one
part 1, part 2, part 3
A behind the scenes look at ETW, episode two (beware language!)
part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4

Boohoo.."85% recommended buy" is waay too low to aid the purchase decision of a gullible sucker like me.
Cheerfully expecting a "100% life-changing buy" to guide my decision.

I remember that a year ago some reviewer from gamespot.com gave a preaty low score for one game (made by EA?...I don't recall correctly). The next day he was fired from gamespot.com. Talk about honesty and fairness.

Thats Kane & Lynch you're talking about, when Jeff Gerstmann was fired the day after he gave the aforementioned game a low score.
Anyways, I dont really find that any professional reviewer has any credibility anymore, they have too much to consider when reviewing a game. I always look at player scores and reviews when buying a game. It's better to listen to 40 people, who can rate any way they want without any consequences than 1 guy who's job might be on the line. As for Napoleon, I'm gonna wait and see what the people here thinks of it.
