I can't see units flags

how can I fix?

1. Go to your "Medieval II Total War" folder.
2. Find the file preferences.cfg.
3. Right click on it and open it using notepad. (If the file isn't there or has nothing in it, start M2TW and go to the main menu, then quit.)
4. Scroll down to the [video] section and find the line:

show_banners = 0

and change this to

show_banners = 1

(from M2TW FAQ)

This should work.

I found this "preferences.cfg." file but I cant see show_banners = 0 or show_banners = 1

EDIT: I'm not sure are the changes you make being saved. This may require making a new CFG file.

Why do u need unit flags?

Unit flags are a quick indicator of unit morale. Most blatantly, the flags go flashing white when your units decide they're cowards and want to rout. Definitely valuable in larger battles with thousands of units.
