In my opinion, it's unconditional care for someone regardless of physical qualities... For example, if your girl got her face bitten off my a chimp and you still retain that unconditional care for her, you are in love...
Well, your opinion?

"Care" is not an emotion, so I really don't get that one, but I think it's descriptive nonetheless.
Love to me is a combination of oxytocin, seratonin, and dopamine and their respective receptors, as well as the way they interact with the hypothalamus and the prefrontal cortex.
My view has always been that if you care about someone, but don't feel anything, you aren't caring about them for them, but because of something else.
You. Are awesome.
And I think "love" is only a handy instinct to help us humans to breed.
Be honest, if there's a woman/man that you don't feel attracted to, or to which you don't have an emotional bond, you wouldn't mate, thus not produce children.
Love goes hand-in-hand with lust, both care for the children and provide food so the baby won't die. This is also why most relationships break after 3 to 5 years, because by nature we're not meant to stay longer than necessary with our partner so we could go and mate with someone else
What is love
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me no more

The most spectacular, indescribable, deep euphoric feeling for someone.
Love is an incredibly powerful word. When you're in love, you always want to be together, and when you're not, you're thinking about being together because you need that person and without them your life is incomplete.
This love is unconditional affection with no limits or conditions: completely loving someone. It's when you trust the other with your life and when you would do anything for each other. When you love someone you want nothing more than for them to be truly happy no matter what it takes because that's how much you care about them and because their needs come before your own. You hide nothing of yourself and can tell the other anything because you know they accept you just the way you are and vice versa.
It's when they're the last thing you think about before you go to sleep and when they're the first thing you think of when you wake up, the feeling that warms your heart and leaves you overcome by a feeling of serenity. Love involves wanting to show your affection and/or devotion to each other. It's the smile on your face you get when you're thinking about them and miss them.
Love can make you do anything and sacrifice for what will be better in the end. Love is intense, and passionate. Everything seems brighter, happier and more wonderful when you're in love. If you find it, don't let it go.
One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life:
That word is love.

Your description would make it seem that way yes but on a side note, psychology does tell us that we are born with an eerie lust for our mothers...
