Malfunctions on my pc. Help!

My system:

Win XP SP3
Abit An7
Athlon 2800+
Sapphire Radeon 9800 PRO
DDR Ram 1GB dual channel corsair
2 HD Maxtor Raid 0
DVD plextor px-130A
CD LG 52x 24x 52x
SB Audigy Zs
Karpersky internet security 7.0 full


My problem: i was reading twc thru firefox and i saw browser wasnt loading the things properly.. so i chose to restart the pc. Once restarted, on desktop entering task manager/processes i noticed the "user name list" close to ID session, which were all like this:

with squares and weird letters (originally, instead of squares there was the name Davide associated to every process)
Then i went to internet to search this problem, i entered google but when i press search button, the browser always has an unexpected crash! (this happens with all search engines on the web)
Then i tried to open Photoshop CS2 but a window tells me:

"Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry but this error is unrecoverable"

When i read system error, i made a full scandisk of C:\ (where i have the system installed) but scandisk found anything wrong!

Odd one. I suggest running XP in safe mode with networking (press F8 before the you get the XP splash screen on start up) and see if you get the same messages or errors and taking it from there. The alternative is using Windows restore to put you PC back to a point in time when everything was hunkydory.

i'll try with safe mode and then i'll report if i have still the problem

I tried with safe mode but when it loads, i have an automatical reset everytime (i cant enter safe mode at all)

Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore and take it from there. If that doesn't work you might have to look at fomatting and reinstallation

Windows is telling me that system restore is disabled by group criteria and i have to contact the administrator of the group. I dont know what this means ( i dont know if sounds correct because i m translating it from italian)

It means your Windows restore is disabled. You need to re-enable it via the registry, follow the instructions here.

i followed the procedure and i enable system restore.. but there's not system to restore pre yesterday.. do i have to format?
