I am playing Mordor, I am at 180 turns. My Allies ,once they took rebel towns have done nothing, they just sit out the game. They all have military access from me, so they can move troops.
Any ideas on how to get them back into the game.
Thanks,
Tom

Military access normally doesn't do much as the AI seems to conquer only neighbouring provinces (except for invasions). Haw you watched them closely? Are they really doing nothing ore are they perhaps only defeated when they try to attack?
This always pisses me off. I played a campaign as High Elves and the only time Eriador ever did anything was to attack the Dwarves and stuff up my trade with beseiged cities! Then I went down to help out Gondor, sent two epic fleets with about 6 generals and stacks of Eldar units down the coast to take Osgiliath, Umbar, Tolfalas, and Cair Andros. The turn after I took Osgiliath and Cair Andros (all on same turn) Gondor says "great no borders with Mordor, what say you to a peace treaty?" FOR GOD'S SAKES! YOU ARE GONDOR! YOU EXIST FOR NO REASON OTHER THAN TO HOLD BACK MORDOR! So in the end I had to conquer both Harad and Mordor on my own, though that's not really very hard when you have Eldar armies and 20,000 profit a turn BUT STILL! Pull your weight allies!
Try RC/RR custom campaign 'War of the Ring' this solves the problem as most factions start at war.
I thought it's just like in Vanilla for example Gondor starts at war with Mordor and Harad.
Could be but coming from this:
I take it that Gondor and Mordor did not start at war as they declare war on eachother. In all of my campaigns Gondor and Mordor regularly declare war and then cease fire very soon afterwards.
I'll give War of the Ring a shot. cheers. To solve the problem though I just started a campaign as Gondor (VH/VH), now I can be at war with Mordor all I like :p Though funnily enough it's turn 46 and we are still just sitting in our respective halves of Osgiliath...
Oh and in that campaign I'm fighting a war in Rohan trying to reclaim their land from Isengard and ERIADOR ARE ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING!!! They've come down into Dunland and are clearing up all of Isengards rear provinces while Rohan and I fight never ending stacks at Helms Deep. I'm allied with Eriador so it's really odd that they are doing something, but Gandalf the Grey has a full stack in Dunland haha
Well Gandalf´s mission is to kill Sauron...
Which he cannot do if Eriador is controlled by the AI as they cannot take SHOULD NOT BE SEEN.
Go play Divide and Conquer.

Haha yeah. when I saw Gandalf as general I had a thought, would it be possible to make characters multi-functional?
Example: Has anyone played the Star Wars: Empire at War games? Well you had certain hero characters like Han Solo, who could fly the Millenium Falcon in space battle, chomp up infantry in planetry battles, and to top it off could steal technology from the Empire on the strategy/galaxy map.
Off topic I know, but would it be possible?
No.
I think that's clear, but I would like to say it's hard coded.

Oh well, would have been cool though.
About the allies, I always thought there should be a way to coordinate attacks. Maybe in the diplomacy screen have as a demand 'attack region', more specific than 'attack faction'. That way you can really bring your allies into the action instead of just 'oh look a convenient ally when i'm attacking this hugely superior army, thanks buddy' haha
Yes that sucks. Maybe we should all go and shout at the Total War team to implent this option. On the other hand: it probally wouldn't work.

The AI are bad enough with 'attack faction'. why do they never trust me?
p.s. no need to be such a negative nelly. talking about a possibility isn't an affront to the team. just chill
Attack Faction costs a lot of money, or a settlement or two
And I'm not very negative, I just know the AI would still not be smart enough to attack the region in time. Or there would be another bug. And we won't see it in Third Age anyway.
