Are muslims and jews allowed to eat boar?

This is pretty much a non issue for me since I only have one very religious friend and he pretty much refuse to eat anything else than chicken. But I am curious about what jewish/muslim members here think about boar meat. Are boars too similar to pigs or are they in your opinion okay to eat?

The quick answer is no. Boar is also pork as far as meat is concerned.

Pig is a genus which includes quite a few species including boar species. So if you're using modern biological classification then no.

Technically boar is a member of the swine family, and swine meat is considered pork, therefore I don't think Muslims or Jews would be allowed to eat it.

I don't get it... explain your reasoning... I never stated Christians can disregard OT laws but they do so anyways, ie. Pork prohibition...

Non-Jewish, gentile Christians are not bound by Jewish traditional law, like the dietary restrictions. I suggest you read the New Testament. Actually, read this
