Have a look on these mods videos of the napoleonic mod (medieval total war mod), the flags, the uniforms are quite accurate, CA should be inspired by this.
Of course animation, AI is awful, soldiers look like squares : like it was in medieval total war.
But what is sure that medieval total war was certainly more easy to mod when you see the changes.

Thats using the RTW engine, it's NTW2 or Napoleonic Total War 2 (I didn't watch the whole video), made by the Lordz Modding Community
