They warn you countless times in SOI not to do anything to EPW's after you capture them, and for this very reason. All they have to do is claim you hit them and you're career is potentially ruined. And then you lie about it? And throw everything away because you punched someone who was in custody anyways. Navy SEALS especially should know better.

Well, this case in particular highlights the utter stupidity of the current environment that we are having forced down our throats. And that largely has a home in human rights groups who have gone off the deep end long ago, and the oh-so PC, and liberal over-intoxicated continent of Europe.

This guy could just as easily have gotten it in the teeth, during his capture. And I bet that is exactly what happened. In that sense, if he put up a fight, there is nothing preventing this SEAL from fighting back.

All this guy has to do is scream loud enough for this to become a story, and claim whatever he would like. SEAL makes a false staement knowing the fine line he walks in today's military, and the rest is history.

Consider the source of the comment, he just loves to generalize. I do love the delightful clash in this thread though people railing against US treatment of people but almost in the same breath suggesting Blackwater guys somehow deserved because of the accusations leveled against them (mind you I wont defend Blackwater, at the very least having what is basically a mercenary group running around is never going to be good) regardless of whether THESE particular people ever did anything wrong.

oh I think the entire invasion is an illegal imperial war, but in the paricular case mentioned the guilty where punished. Xe, Blackwater or w/e they call themsleves this week are scum however, and should be prosecuted for any wrong doing in Iraqi courts, actually maybe that should apply to all occupation military personnel regardless of affialiation, but thats another arguement, they should not however be lynched, almost no one deserves that exceptions spring to mind, but none are currently in Iraq so the point is moot

Actually they did. The pictures didn't surface till a year after it ended, when the people were already under arrest.

11 soldiers went to jail and a General lost her star. And the Commanding Officer of the forces in Iraq was basically forced into retirement.

A story didn't break out and become a frenzy till April 2004.

We actually brought up charges in March, announced them to the media, but no one cared till the 60 minutes special in April.
