    Default CPU problems (illustrated)

I have trouble with a few games. There is a topic of me here about how full screen applications go back to desktop without actually crashing, but this one is a bigger problem. I have problems with two games : Football Manager 2010 (im asking for their help on their forums), and the demo of PES 10. I admit, it is only a demo, but it points to a big problem i think. have a look at this:

Here is a pic of how PES values my system. My CPU has suddenly changed from good to ok. strange, since these screenies were made within two minutes of eachother. The best part is: when i first opened settings, the indication for my CPU was "impossible", in bright red. However, I can't seem to recreate that situation.

When i play the demo, the game lags and freezes, on medium settings. The same problem i have with FM2010: freezing and lagging. Other games (ETW, ME II TW,...) have no problem at all with my CPU, who is pretty old.

    Help anyone?

Well I can't explain why the PES system evaluation is changing it's mind about how good your CPU is it might have something to do with the AMD equivalent of speedstep being run while the evaluation is running. Speedstep (or whatever AMD calls it) sets the CPU to a lower voltage and clock rate to save on power. Once your CPU is called into action speedstep sets the CPU back to optimal performance but this is just a guess.

As for freezing etc in your other games most likely you video card is overheating. Have you ever cleaned your video cards heat sink and fan? If not now might be a good time to start.

The strange thing is: i have no problems with high graphical games. Empire TW, Medievall II, all run good on high settings. When i had problems with my previous video card (with MEII, see this topic: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=285709 ),
the first thing they thought was overheating, but it wasn't the case. My graphics card was incompatible with the game. Heating was not an issue. Besides, the games get stuck after a few minutes, that's not even time to get overheated. The last time it got cleaned out was when the new card was being put in, so that's about 2 months. I'll clean it out again friday, but it's almost certain not the problem. FM2010 is game with much statistics and processing, and not so much of graphics (which i turn off btw)
