    Default A request

Please guys, can we focus on finishing this mod as a priority?

There's still a whole load of things that still need doing:
    unit descriptions
    buildings images
    play testing

as well as all the stuff that new team members are working on:
    scripts
    traits
    economy

I'm getting increasingly frustrated that there are only just a handful of people who really seem to want to see this mod completed. Can we please put in a special effort for say the next month? I believe we could finish it if we all pull together.

I second the motion.....although I feel guilty because RL has limited what I can do, and I am going to be gone to my daughter's again for most of December and January.
(Although I am taking my main computer with me, so at least I can do 'something'.)

I have been play-testing various campaigns as much as I can to get a feel for how they are going...but guys, I am only one person, and between Tone and I we just can't work on code, the environment, units, fixing things, unit descriptions, the map, economics, proof-reading, etc. etc.....
Some of you have been doing as much as you are capable of....I know, but where have all the other people went? Cherryfunk hasn't even been on the site since Nov. 11th., so I guess if any map improvement is going to be made, it's going to be up to someone else or it stays as is.

I'm very frustrated as well....because RL has been kicking me in the teeth...(although with some blessings as is always the case with adversity). I have had to move out of my house just the last few days for economic reasons....yeah, I'm not complaining, but come on people, we put so much work into this we HAVE to finish it. This is no time to fizzle out or sit on our hands waiting for the 'other guy' to do something.

I'm particularly disturbed that there are still so many unit descriptions not done...these units were concepted by somebody....there must be a story behind them even if it's a short one.

Those descriptions take time, but I am on them.

There appears to be lack of testing by certain best test members.

I know for instance that intel has claimed internet problems have limited their posting but they appear to have managed to have posted on the TWC web site most days.

They certainly appeared enthusiastic to become a beta tester but I don't think they are justifying that position.

Should there be a review of how many active beta testers there are?

There will always be times when people can't play and post but they can usually post that they are going to be quiet for a while or contribute in some other way.

I will be posting in the 'Punic Power Testing' thread in a few minutes my brand new Carthage campaign....

I went through the Gallaeci unit descriptions the other day and there is a lot missing - do you want me to list them in the Gallaeci thread or elsewhere?

Thanks. Yes, we really need to be having a more active management of beta testing activity. Setting people defined goals and so on. At the moment I think we've probably left things too vague. How did you manage things with RTR?

It was managed by Master of Thesis. I've not really participated in the beta test of RTR VII FoE and I feel guilty about that. Even with RTR VII TIC I was asked by MCM to come in at a fairly late stage (September / October with the release in the New Year). They do have communications threads for all the beta testers.

The RTR team also used to use a product to report bugs and there should be no way that they would ever get lost in the system.

I know there are certain threads that kept beta testers informed iof changes that had been made - one example was changing denari to shekels.

I think the main thing is that people should demonstrate that they are actively beta testing.

Even of they are playing the same campaign and there have been no problems they could submit reports like the ones are done in the 'show your Empire' thread in the main forum.

If they are restarting the campaigns over and over again I am sure that no two campaigns are the same - there must be some variation in what the AI is doing.

I don't think there is anything wrong with people testing different factions and reporting what they find. Not everyone plays a Greek or Barbarian or Horse Archer faction all the time.

There isn't any problem with everyone being directed towards a single faction as is happening at the moment. It does appear that many people are simply inactive or were never active in the first place. I don't think that is a way to pick up on this at the moment.

There will always be times when people can't find the time to beta test but in most cases can warn other people that we are going absent for a period of time. I don't think there is such a thread in the beta forum (there is one in the dev2 forum).

The problem of setting goals or targets for people is that someone has to set them! Depending upon the set up used the player may have a lot more battles than other players (0-turn should result in more and bigger battles than 1-turn?).

Hmmm, maybe there could be a system where every single bug is posted on one thread e.g "the great big bugs thread". An RS team member would then compile a list of the problems and assign a task to the team members he knows are responsible e.g. problem with skin would go to tone. If each area had a point of contract it could work a lot faster.

I know it is hard to find active beta testers and many have RL issues but I think we can make this work....

Thank you, if any other issues come up, i will post here to ask where to refer them to.

Am going to post in the beta forum now and get this up and running

Edit: Sorted, can someone pin it please? and remove a few of the older threads on the list so people go straight there.

Also, does anyone have a list of the current beta testers that we have who have access to the forum? I'm going to follow up to each and every single one to assess how useful they are being.
