I found for Australian members like me that EB Games are selling NTW for $69.95. Thats not the Imperial Edition.

Hmmm, Canada EB is selling it for $40 and that's regular.
so if someone bought everything that CA has sold for a finalized napoleonic game, how much money would that amount to?
Looks like $40 for US too..DLCs would be extra, I'm assuming.
$39.95 at Amazon for the USA. I'd imagine an extra $10 or so for the Imperial Edition, that's usually how special editions get priced.
Is AU$69.95 the same as US$39.95?
Let me persuade you with my powerful logic skills.
In light of the Total War series, a quote from the theologian whom I respect the most:
The Heavenly City outshines Rome, beyond comparison. There, instead of victory, is truth; instead of high rank, holiness.
St. Augustine, Bishop of Hippo
I think they set different prices to different markets, The USA is a very big market, but its a euro game so they will keep the price down to get more volume of sales, Aus is smaller but a big euro following so they can charge a bit more, its a bit of a ripoff with the Aus US exchange rate at the moment.thats my guess!

It seems to me the Australians get the short end of the stick when it comes to games (NTW wouldn't be the first)![]()
Unless NTW can demonstrate it has benefitted from the TRUE lessons that should have been learned from ETW (i.e. crap BAI, pathfinding, appalling sieges, dopey naval combat choices etc etc) then I sincerely hope nobody in Australia gets ANY version.
It's what CA/SEGA deserve.
I certainly won't be paying a combined total of near Aus$200 for them.....
69.95? Am I reading that right?
I feel truly sorry for you Australians, paying more for less (Left 4 Dead 2).
Yep, I paid $110 dollars for ETW, $70 dollars for NTW, and its about $70 here for Histwar. But don't worry, $70 dollars isn't so bad, it costs like $20 for a kilo of prime beef here. So $70 doesn't sound so bad for NTW, MTW2 was $60 for me.

Found out that in the Netherlands the normal game is 50 euros, and the imperial edition 70 euros.
I didn't expect that, after I saw the prices at other sites last month.

Well, the normal version costs 40 € in Germany (amazon.de), which is the cheapest price if you include shipping costs that i could find. No price for IE yet.
If i buy NTW, i'll import it from the UK. Costs about 60 % as much. I can't really understand this huge price difference, especially in Europe.
There are no bugs in ETW! The AI works perfectly! We will win! -Comical Keiran
Yes, i know. The big price difference is strange, it's exactly the same in the netherlands. But not only with the total war series, its with almost every game. Sometimes the prices are 20euro's higher as in GB or somehwere else.
Maybe just a lot of taxes ^^
There was an article in a major newspaper here pointing out that Australians are also getting screwed on Windows 7. The price comparison around the world really showed how badly we cop it. The recent increases in the value of the Aus$ merely makes it more evident (prices haven't changed one bit if you buy locally).
We also get screwed on internet access. The costs for higher spec access are absurd, especially when compared with rates for comparable services around the world. I remember one time Bill Gates came to Australia and gave a speech that p1ssed off a lot of our ISPs because he commented that his view (supported by plenty of evidence) was that the consumer loses big-time when the ISP is also a telco. Guess what most of our ISPs are? Major Telcos. (and I'm not looking for replies about how Gates has screwed people; that may be true, but it doesn't mean he's not well informed about such things)
Anyway, it was funny watching the ISP/telcos trying to dance around what Gates said.
Why should anyone buy NTW when it is new and expensive, when experience shows that it would not be a surprise but a wonder if it were not so full of bugs that it would be nearly unplayable? I will buy it when the prices are a little bit lower
1. to save money
2. so that the first patches are out and make it playable
3. to tell CA that way that I was not glad with the state of Empire at release- maybe if selling rates drop, they will begin to start themselves what they could do too regain customers. Obviously they do not listen to complaints, be they friendly or sad, so I will let my money speak.
ETW dropped in prices, just before the release in the Netherlands. So who knows.
