    Default Clarifications on install

Please forgive my ignorance for I don’t consider myself literate when it comes to computer stuff.

I just need some clarification on the install process.

I am going through the process of loading mods because I am sick of the vanilla Rome and now I am on Invasio Barbarorvm.

For the other mods that I loaded I named a folder the name of the mod and copied and pasted the Total war folder in the new folder, I then started the install for that particular mod.

I tried the same process with this mod and the units are messed up. Please keep in mind I don’t play the campaign games just the tactical battle aspect.

I then have another look at the install process and it says to C drive and anywhere else would cause a faulty install.

It also says that, “this mod is compatible with other mods using a mod switch.

I never heard of a mod switch or should I say the terminology is new to me.

I ended up installing on a fresh umodded install of RTW:BI patch 7 and patch7.03. It was on the C drive but it would of looked like this C:\Invasio Barbarorvm\Activision\Rome-Total War\

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A mod switch allows you to have more than one mod installed in the same RTW-BI directory. As long as the mods are 'mod-switchers', theoretically, you can have as many as you want in the same directory without having to worry about conflicts among each other. It's very practical, I think. I don't know what you mean by your units being messed up, but usually the proper way to install mods is to direct the installer to the directory where you have your RTW folder prepared. Just make sure that the path is the right one.

I guess I would have to figure out how to use it.

I thought I did install to the proper directory. What I mean by messed up is all the picture are the same. When on the purchase screen for multiplayer.

Ok...I have no idea what I am doing apparently. Wish the OP would share. I installed it and got the "Shortcut". When I run the shortcut, it starts to browse and cannot find anything. Dont know if this is right but BI is in the Activision/Rome total War folder but this mod created a Creative Assembly/Rome Total War folder and put the mod in there. I dont know what a "mod switch " is. How do I play this? did I mess up in that this mod is in a seperate folder from BI?

Hi, if you have your BI installed in an Activision/Rome Total War folder, then you have to direct the installation of the mod into that folder. When asked by the installer, just change the path from Creative Assembly/Rome Total War (which is the default installation) to Activision/Rome Total War or whatever the name of your directory is.
A mod switch means that the mod won't modify your original vanilla, so you can keep playing it.

Can this game then be played without a "mod switch" by simply overwirting files? If not, how do I get a mod switch? Is it a program? I'm confused by teh install instructions because it states that teh shortcut has bothe a Show-Err and a mod switch...i dont know what that means. Only that when I click on the Shortcut Icon, it just browses and cannot find the file.

Also. do I want this mod to extract into the Rome Total war folder or the BI folder?

Sorry for the dumb questions but I haven't done this type of thing before.

It's ok, don't worry. You have to do nothing at all to get IB mods in 'switch mod mode'. Once you install any of them, they will be a switch mod by default.
When the installer starts doing its stuff, it will ask you where you want to install the mod. By default the path it uses is "Creative Assembly/Rome Total War. If your clean RTW/BI is in a different folder (according to your previous post it is located in Activision/Rome Total War), just direct it to this folder. The installer will do the rest, just let him to complete the whole installation and voila!
About the show-err feature, just ignore it. It won't affect your installation.
