Check it out.
Will it be a better deal than the Empire Special Edition?
What are people's thoughts on this, and which will you buy?

Since i own the ETW Special Edition, i wouldn't even consider buying this Imperial Edition...
If NTW will be playable, i will buy the normal game, without DLC and some other extras.
There are no bugs in ETW! The AI works perfectly! We will win! -Comical Keiran
I can't wait for it !!! I will buy NTW Imperial Edition !!!
Why I can't vote ???

The very concept of this "Imperial Edition" is just ethically wrong.
It involves making a full game, witholding part of this game, and giving an incomplete game to those who pay full price, giving the complete game to those who can be suckered into paying more.
Thanks, but no thanks. I wonder if I'll even buy the regular edition now that there's news about this "Imperial" nonsense; it pisses me off.
Bah, who needs a biography on Napoleon Bonaparte? We can just grab that off Wikipedia.
Special units? I never connect with my men anyways, they all get destroyed one way or the other. 99% chance I chuck them into the heat of a battle, figuring they'll win, and then watch them get annhilated down to the last man.
Usually these collectors editions are aimed at hardcore people who have disposable income to throw around.
For me it's all about monetary, if it's cheaper to get the collectors than the regular on the first day then I go for that. (Star Trek collectors was actually cheaper than buying the regular).
I have to admit though the edition looks a lot like Lord of the Rings Special Edition.
Really? You bought the game already? You mind sharing it with us?
Meh, too bad then but I made the point that these "extra units" really don't do much anyways aside from giving out bragger's rights. In other words their extra units so you really aren't losing anything to begin with. Otherwise, I'm guessing your cringing your teeth at every DLC that ever existed in gaming history which begs the questions do you even buy any games to begin with?
Retailers these days also do their own exclusive versions so if you buy the game from their store they give you exclusive DLC or units that only they provide so I'm guessing your boycotting them too or cursing them every time you enter the store.
increasingly no. but it's okay for them because people like you apparently have no problem with it.
this DLC is a new phenomenon, and the guy was right to call it what it is, selling you parts of the game after the main release so they get more money. what company would waste resources to make additional content when they can just package the same amount of content differently and get more money.
and @ the OP: this will probably be about the same value as the SF edition for ETW was. IOW, if you like spending money on things for marginal cosmetic improvments, go right ahead.
One could also argue that the regular edition is the complete game and the Imperial Edition (or in Empire's case, the SF edition) is the same complete game but with some extras.
I regretted buying the SF edition for Empire as I didn't really use those couple of extra units, and I didn't like them either. With that experience I decided to just buy the regular edition of Napoleon. But now that I've come to know that there are 15 new units (which is a lot more than the extra units in SF) and a nice poster I think I will buy the Imperial Edition. I hope I won't find out afterward that I've made the same mistake twice in a row.
You run that risk with TW games... Fans seem to reach being either very impressed or very unimpressed from a hyped up game after a hyped up game.
Napoleon I think will be the real big one... Kieran Brigden stated in an interview that the very best of Empire is the very baseline of what is to come next year, and while that is probably a bit of an exageration, I believe it and I also believe that I won't be disappointed.
Also, Napoléon is my all time favourite historical figure, and the game is released on my birthday, but I have high hopes and high hopes that these high hopes will be met.
Keep up the great work CA if you read this!![]()

Yeah I think Napoleon will be way better than Empire too. I believe CA knows that there is a lot of negative feedback on their Empire game, so in order to not lose their customers they have to make up for what they did wrong with Empire. It's all about money.
If you know for sure that there will be enough people willing to buy your game, you can put less effort in it because you will sell your game anyway.
But on the other hand, when you cannot be so sure people will buy it, you have to show them that the game will be worth buying and put more money and effort in it.

I was waiting for this poll to show up, didn't take to long eh!
Anyway, one likes one's Special Soldiers, so we changed our pre-order, this gives me plenty of time to think about whether I am wasting my money on CA's 'Baubles' or the flash is worth the cash.
I've been to amazon.co.uk and they're selling it for £29.99, thats about £7 cheaper than Empire special edition...
