    Default Military Colonies

I am currently enjoying a Carthage campaign with the latest build and have a question about the military colonies. I found some information in an old thread when these were being proposed but cannot find any concrete information on what they currently provide. They don't show up in my building browser, so I can't tell what units they will open up. I did build one but my available unit roster did not change. Any information would be great, thanks.

Carthaginian military colonies gives lybian units after the 1st level, provided you build them outside Africa.

Thanks for the reply. Is that in addition to aor units? Do the military colonies also increase growth of eastern civilized culture?

Yes, basically they expand the lybian AOR to where the place is built.
Not sure about the civilization bonus though, cannot really check as I'm using my reserve rig...

Sorry for not stating myself clearly, I meant do the military colony libyan units replace the spanish aor units (eg spearmen, celtiberean swordsman, and so on)? Thanks again.

No, they just add to the existing AOR...

The Lybian colony doesn't add a culture bonus, but other factions' colonies add a small Barbarian influence.

Expand your borders, a mod based on XGM 5.

    Great, thanks for the replies.

Let me say how much I am enjoying the latest build of XC. I was initially wary of the increased unti costs, but it seems nicely balanced. I am about 100 turns in or so (as Carthage) and have conquered much of Spain. The Iberians were rather underpowered compared to XGM, but that to me is a good thing as I almost never saw Carthage survive. Playing as Carthage I might have liked more of a challenge from them, but its a small price to pay for the prospect of a strong ai Carthage in future campaigns.

The Romans pretty much ignored me, and still haven't invaded the islands, but they did finally push me out of Sicily. They asked for peace not long after. I was able to hold them off three times at Syracuse, so it doesn't seem like I will be hopelessly overmatched when it comes time to take them on. This was always a problem in the past.

Perhaps the best and most welcome sign of the balance provided in the latest version is the absence of endless stacks roaming the countryside. This was my biggest (and perhaps only) gripe with XGM.

Anyway, keep up the good work and thanks.

Well, there's less money for everybody so AI is not so aggressive which makes a difference.
That said, AI bonuses should still increase the challenge for those that likes it...
