Default Are there any good gondor strats out there?

I have read most of the tips but it seems impossible without cheating. Their is no way you can take E and W OSG then go for EA on the south by turn 12, like one strat suggested, thats imossible you cant hold both of the and attack CA, and defend against Harad, this seems like an impossible game to win. Is It?

I'm doing it in my current game. The trick is to move your capital to Tarnost to reduce corruption. Doing so at turn one nets you at least an extra 1k per turn. That's a lot of extra cash, especially in the beginning. Then again, I disabled the garrison script (I hate that thing), so when I'm finally able to counter-attack, I'll at least stand a chance.

I've played gondor on VH/VH and it isn't too bad if you can blitz to eastern osgiliath early on. mordor's armies can be very easily destroyed at osgiliath (mordor will never try to move around osgiliath). you can focus all your other resources on Harad. btw, early on you should take the rebel settlements to the west.

I'm as new as you are matey, and have been reading your posts, and trying many of the tips provided, some of which have failed dramatically :-( ...

Note: The setting of Tarnost as the capital really does give an extra 1K per turn, thanks for whoever provided that one, most useful ;-)

In my latest attempt (H/H), I ignored Osgiliath (E&W) and went for Cair Andros instead. I did set up a watchtower to look over the Osgiliaths, and was amazed to find that Mordor did not attack them either, the Mordor hordes seem to be heading North, with the odd assault on Cair Andros rather than the relentless assaults they made when I took the Osgiliaths !

Anyway, I've lost count of the times I've restarted my Gondor campaign, but with this new tactic I feel as though I've now got the upper hand against Harad, the most useful tips were...

    1. Take Umbar and reduce Harad's ability to produce
    2. Take Barad Harn, as this is where Harad will attack
    3. Use roving groups of units to attack smaller enemy groups before they combine into a large enough force to assault the wooden wall of Barad Harn (use the watchtowers).

Thanks to everyone for their help, Mordor will be a challenge when I finally mount an offensive, but I'm looking forward to it.

Good luck to you Airbourne Guy, I was beginning to think I was the only one having problems with playing Gondor ;-)

    No problem!

Your strategy against Harad is sound, I usually do something very similar. I've also noticed that, sometimes, Mordor doesn't know what to do with East and West Osgiliath if they are rebel settlements. In my Gondor games, I always take on Harad first and block Mordor -- I take Cair Andros and West Osgiliath, but I will leave East Osgiliath as a rebel settlement. If Mordor takes East Osgiliath, I will siege it and occupy it, destroy all of the destroyable buildings, and then leave and allow it to rebel. I always sit my main army on the bridge between the cities so that any defensive battle fought there I will have a huge advantage (bridge battle). The biggest problem, in my experience, is defending Cair Andros... but since it's a castle and on and island, it's very manageable.

Cair Andros is actually very easy to defend. Easier for me than Osgiliath. 3-4 militias, 2 bowmen, 2 generals and 1 ballista is all you need to defend it with minimum losses.

Best way to defend vs harad its take the settlement under the river and defend it, harad will 99% times attack it and not the others.
