most of the time , i do not rush things and pretending to follow the course of history as close as possible (even use of books during the gameplay, for example the battle of alesia or bibracte)
especially for the roman campaigns it worked out very well , in 1.5 and 1.0 i managed to get the whole of the roman empire mapped as close as possible (sorry no screenshots held)
i tend to place forts on the strategic places on the map as where i taught the romans or gauls would place them as strategical as possible !
before all that, i always start slowly , managing the economy and my standard is always , first to make the cities a little bit comfortable for my people , adding usable grounds , give them roads, checking the hygiene , then work on the governmental level , also trying to represent the hisorical feeling , only after i have managed that properly and gaining some more money and taxes i slowly start building up the army , but all not in a rush and also with enough strategy concerning delivery of new troops , which is sometimes not easy to provide as due to the long distances involved of all the different legions after the reforms!
talking about the gauls , i can imagine testing the new gauls would be a real joy for me as i want to test and help you people to get those romans on their knees ! 8-)
for the moment i can support you all , like 3 -4 hours max per evening (utc +1h) accordingly if u allow !
i would show u the screenshots of the current campaign but is still very early in the making ....(as i just downloaded 1.6 last friday)
but i think i could be more helpful in providing some feedback on the new version than that i am playing 1.6 , please note that i have 1.5 already a long time and also 1.0 .......
also i last small note .....i am rather looking into details , like the units , shields , ......by the way i have noticed that the leading person in the roman hastati or principes (i do not remember exactly) but when he charges the gladius dissappears ....altough before he starts to engage the sword is still showing ........
hoping on a positiv response 8-)
have a nice evening,day
