    Welcome to the forum!

I think one of Marcus Camillus's mods added the Rubicon once? I remember playing with that years ago. As for redoing the ones along the Danube, I don't think his did that, but Arbasces did with Heirs of Atlantis. I've also redone the provinces along the Danube and the Dacian roster in the ExRM (mostly based on Arbasces' work, but also on some research I did myself).

That normally happens when your RTW is not v1.5 but an older version. Go to the options menu and check the upper right corner. It should say ver.1.5.

There`s a link in this skinning guide:

I don`t know of any guide for mapping with Gimp and I don`t have time to write one either. I`ll just give you a few directions and if you need more specific instructions as you go about it, post here:

    - the file you need is map_regions.tga from Rome - Total War\data\world\maps\base. If you have the mod switch version of RTRPE the data folder is inside a RTRPE one.
    - make a backup of the file and any other file you edit before editing them(in fact backup your saves too to be sure you don`t mess it up).
    - map_regions.tga has the same size with map_features that sets the rivers. So you can compare the two to know where to move the borders sorta speak. In the lower left corner you`ll notice that the coordinates are given for each pixel on which you stop your mouse. If you like what Boris did to his it would be easier to compare the RTRPE map_regions with his and do the same changes in the Danube area.
    - to edit map_region use the pencil tool and not the brush. If you use the brush the game will crash when loading the file. Click on the pencil icon and then change it from Circle (11) as it is by default to Circle (01) so you can edit one pixel at a time. Then it`s just a matter of editing the regions to change their shapes to what you want.
    - when you save the file use "save as" instead of just "save" and deselect the 2 compression options on the panel that appears.
    - after you`ve done the changes you need to delete the map.rwm file again so that the engine will generate it again to include your changes and then start a new campaign.
