Default Kate Moss encourages anorexia: "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels"

Kate Moss: 'Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels'

Kate Moss, the model, has been accused of encouraging teenage girls to become anorexic after claiming she lives by the motto: “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.”

The 35-year-old shocked campaigners fighting to abolish the cult of stick-thin models with the disclosure to the fashion news website WWD.
When asked in an interview if she had any mottos, she replied: “There are loads of mottos. There’s ‘Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels’. That’s one of them.”
She added: “You try and remember, but it never works.”
Critics condemned Moss’s comments, saying that, as a role model to millions of girls and young women, they could lead to more instances of eating disorders.
Katie Green, a former Ultimo model, who launched the Say No To Size Zero campaign with Lembit Öpik, the Liberal Democrat MP, told The Sun: “There are 1.1 million eating disorders in the UK alone.
“Kate Moss’s comments are likely to cause many more. If you read any of the pro-anorexia websites, they go crazy for quotes like this.”
The slogan is adopted on various websites, including one called Starving For Control.
Green, 22, who is a size 12, added: “Millions of girls aspire to be like Kate Moss. These comments are shocking and irresponsible.”
Denise Van Outen, 35, the television presenter, added: “Kate Moss is talking out of her Size Zero backside.
“Having been in the industry for so long, she knows the impact her comments will have on vulnerable young women.”
Moss, who is dating Kills guitarist Jamie Hince, 40, also said she believed that modelling success was about more than looks.
She said: “It sounds really corny but I think that if you’re beautiful inside it shows on the outside, for sure.”

NOW, seriously.... i dont know what could men find so nice in skeleton-like women. Personally i will never ever date one of them. Anorexia is a disorder who should be fought not encouraged. Can we send Kate Moss to some sanitarium around?

I think that she should keep her mouth shout, we don't need more crap that our teenagers have to feel bad about.

Who listens to models anyways? They're usually dimwitted spoiled daddy's girls that had everything easy in their lives and have the same IQ as a spoon does - Not to mention that their general knowledge aspires to none.

    Example from here:
A model was asked: "How can you say you're a vegetarian, but you eat chickens? Why not eat cows while at it?"
She replied: "A chicken is a bird, a cow is an animal".
This was about 2-3 years ago, and everyone keeps mocking her for it. This is just one of dozens of proofs that models do not need to speak - Not only because they rarely have something smart to say, but because whatever they try to say causes more harm than good.

    There are exceptions of course.

The fashion market and celebrity market are dirven by demand.
If there is demand for skinny celebrities and models the free-market will fill that demand: blaming models for societies love of skinny models is reversing the real cause and effect.

Culture doesn't make societies, societies make culture.

    Force feed her Big Macs.

Then make her eat nothing but junk food for the rest of her life.

It's a motto to refrain from indulgences, not all food. Is Kate Moss suddenly the scapegoat for the fashion industry?

    Complete non-issue.

27% of American women are obese.
    .5% are anorexic.

Added skinny is a completely subjective word. My wife has used the 'nothing tastes as good as skinny feels' line herself while losing her baby weight.

Anorexia is a psychological disorder, its not caused by models talking about being skinny.

I don't really see this as much of an issue, and basically agree with Phier on this one.

Though not because of the percentages involved, just fyi.
