Thread: New Factions

  1. #1

    Default New Factions

I know that the EB team wanted more factions in the original mod but couldn't do it. In M2: TW there are more faction slots so there will be more factions. Which factions will be added? Here's what I think:

    Pergamon (announced)
    Belgae (predicted)
    Massylia (sp?) (announced)
    a new Dacian faction (predicted)
    Galatia (predicted)

They have said several times that there will be no Indian faction.

But what do you mean with a new Dacian faction?

There was more than one Dacian tribe. And yeah, I meant to put Bosphorus in there.

This is only my own speculations, but I don't think it would be too unrealistic to think that there might be a new iberian or celtiberian faction. There certainly where other strong tribes like the lusotani, and there's already enough units for an entire faction.

What about a Galatian faction? That woulnd't be too bad at all! They are fairly unique, being celts in Anatolia (of all places!).

Dunno. It would be really great to have them but the area is already pretty crowded atm.

That's true. The Ptolemaoi, The Seleukids, The Makedonians, Pontus and now Pergamon already inhabit the area. Adding Galatians would overpopulate the area. Still, I think a Galatian faction would be cool.

I would like an Illyrian faction. There is alway so much spac between north Italy and Epirus with rebell teretories.

A spanish faction would be cool too and maby a second german one.

Illyria would be great, though I also hope that a greek faction in Sicily and Italy will be implemented.

Yeah, more Greek factions would make sense. I think Massalia would be a nice addition. It would bridge the gap between The Gauls, The Romans and The Lusitanians. Then again, does it merit a whole faction? I also think an Illyrian faction would be really nice. In between The Sweboz, Romans and Getai there is always a big swath of nothing. An Illyrian faction would fill that in nicely.

    Holding out for Galatia!

The Illyrians were excellent pirates and had a decently significant effect on the area and the time period. More so than the British tribes for example who sat about and didn't do much. I think they deserve a faction. They were versatile in that they were semi-civilized barbarians as they adopted Greek phalanx and hoplite warfare partially as well which makes them an interesting faction.

I agree. All for a new Illyrian faction say "I". I!

    My list (2.0):
    1) Pergamon
    2) Numidia
    3) Bosporan Kingdom

    4) Boii
    5) the greek city state in eastern Spain
    6) Nabataea
    7) Scythians
    8) Cyrene or Garama
    9) Helvettii
    10) Syracuse (though I think it would be a bit weird as they kinda have no place to expand besides warring with real factions) or Massilia

Ah, such a teaser. I'm guessing the Boii, but really have no idea!

To be honest they all could work:

Boii acts as a buffer between the Sweboz menance and the Getai hordes and allows eastern Europe to be more interesting.
The Greek city state in Spain makes the peninsula more hotly contested so its no longer Lusitanians vs Carthage
Nabataea is an ancient near eastern version of the Boii, but with Seluccid and Ptolemy instead of Getai and Sweboz
Scythians gives the Sauromatae something to worry about besides Hayasdan
Cyrene and Garama fill in the gap between Carthage and Egypt
    Helvettii: a more southern Boii
Massilia rings out the bottom of Gaul so its no longer a cage match between the two Gaul tribes
Syracuse becomes a western Greek version of Bactria
