    Default Missing Ports

East Osgilliath and Minis Tirith should have ports. I'm not entirely sure why each region doesn't have one already (terrain issues? balance?), but I've attached a screenshot showing why I think the East Osgilliath port is missing and should be included in a later release. Yes, Pelargir is exporting to East Osgilliath even though E.O. doesn't have a port. The same thing happens to Emyn Arnen and Minis Tirith.

I've also noticed that the two northern-most ports don't actually trade with anyone. The dwarves start with one, but I can't remember the settlement's name of the other. I remember that the ports did trade with the elven regions in 1.2, but they stopped in 1.3.

Anyone else find a region that could use a port? The only other one that comes to mind is Rhun's starting capital. However, I've never seen another port on the sea export to it like what occurs in the attached picture.

EDIT: I cheated and added a port to Emyn Arnen to show it exporting to Minis Tirith; didn't feel like waiting another 10 turns for it to turn into a Large Town

Since east and west "Osgiliaths" are actually one city, W. Osgiliath's port also counts for the east side.

Well, since the game currently doesn't make that distinction, is there a way to prevent what happens in my screenshot? I'm not familiar enough with the nuances of modding to make the change myself/

I'm not sure I understand, what's happening in your screenshot? W. Osgiliath has a fishing village which will become a port once you actually build it. I don't see anything out of the ordinary.

The dwarven port trades with the elves, it just happens later in the game when they've got enough upgrades.

Take a closer look. The green trade lane is going to E. Osgiliath's non-existent port, not W. Osgiliath's fishing village.

EDIT: Here's a picture of the same area with Pelargir's trade summary shown. The reason I feel this is a problem, besides the visual issue, is that E. Osgiliath gains no income from the trade. Since it doesn't have a port/fishing village, the income generated from the trade isn't even calculated.

Seems to be a bug then. Could it be that E. Osgiliath has a fishing village that's been made invisible? Do fishing villages even generate sea trade without a port?

    Normally they do so yes.

in rare cases they do but its import only! anyways i believe that some regions in TA suffer from the ghost villages sindrome

There is this issue in SS too. The eastern regions that belong to the Kwaz empire all dont have ports. So I always though it was a balancing issue and they had been removed?

The port for Gondor is Harlond, IIRC.

Minas Tirith should probably be closer to the river as show in the link below.

Yes, you're right. And it's not included in the game, because Minis Tirith doesn't have a port. I'll post a screenshot later (when my game gets that far) showing Emyn Arnen exporting to where the game thinks the port should be. It's happened in every game I've played as Gondor.

@JAL: fishing villages only generate trade income if another region exports to it, they don't initiate trade until you build a port. Since E. Osgiliath doesn't have a fishing village, the game doesn't recognize that Pelargir is exporting to it.

It is possible to have no port and also have the game recognize it. See my post in the expanded map submod

You seem to misunderstand what I meant. What you're referring to is shown in my 2nd pic (Pelargir's trade summary). Here's a pic showing the area with E. Osgiliath's trade summary open. As you can see, the Sea Imports field is missing. Only Pelargir gets the extra income from sea trade.

Actually, I didn't see that other pic. What's strange is that the city in my pic does have a port in vanilla. I think that E. Os. had a port at one time, then it was removed by modders, but not completely.

It's not just this mod, Broken Crescent has tons of these ghost villages in the Red and Caspian Sea areas, so it could be a problem with the game engine. The simple solution (if this is indeed a problem worth trying to solve) would be to give those cities a port, in this case Minis Tirith and E. Osgiliath.

If the ghost fishing villages is a bug, should this thread be moved to the Bug sub-forum?

EDIT: moved all pictures to the OP
