Funniest Thing Happened Today
I started up a Ptolemy campaign, and I saw the huge Seleucid army just north of Sidon. I thought I could never beat it with my terrible soldiers. I may have been right, but it didn't matter. Within the first three turns the Seleucids moved their whole army east. I felt great relief! Then I saw that they also moved the ENTIRE GARRISON out of Antioch. I debated for a moment, but eventually decided to take the city from them. I conquered Antioch without one single casualty - no time for the garrison script to fire.
Now, after about 5 years in the game I control all of my initial starting territories plus Antioch, Damascus and Tarsus. I am sending a full army to the southern Nile to secure my border there. After that, I figure it doesn't matter how terrible my soldiers are, I can just field massive amounts of armies and have little need of a defensive force.

The beauty of Egypt is the numberless hordes of cheap infantry... Their troops do kinda suck though. Apart from cavalry and some auxilaries (nubians are actually quite useful).
