    Default Military Education

    Hi,

    I've a problem educating a prince in a military.
I've built Drill Square in a castle put the price in there with Student trait(he was 16).
But he is 28 already and the trait is (First Year).
I took out of a castle for a turn - and bah! got a penalty with "skipped school"
How do I reactivate the scripts?

    He got new traits:
    Skipped school five terms
    Scholaris(first year)

Kobhlai of the jirgin 26 yeras old

I have my special way for fix it,u must save game of each turn, and get only daughters.Husband's always have military/civilis governing paths. Its all folks, and bre grateful. Its only way to get governors in this devastating traits system.

Bire, please don't double post. You can make your request for help playing DLV with a single post.

I've never had a problem with it. Build stone castle, build drill square, educate general - it should work.

Although I see that the manual is wrong.

Ildar, if it's not working for you, I'd suggest starting again. Though it may work next time it's very odd that it didn't work this time.

    Are you using 6.2?

    What scripts did you choose?

Taiji, I have notices that while building the necessary building to educate governors is a low tier building, using the DLV scripts, plus your mini-mod, makes building a drill square in a castle a much harder (and much later) process. This prevents those family members who come of age earlier unable to gain a military education, or at least causes you to stick them in a castle and wait many, many turns until the points and population grow to a point that they can enter school. With some factions, like the aforementioned Mongols, have family members in the 40's before they start to learn to be generals, by which time they have accumulated some traits and ancillaries already that may not mesh with being a general.

Has any thought been given to lowering the building tier of the drill square to make it on par with civilian schools?

    Hi Taiji,

    Thnx for reply.
I am using vanilla 6.2 - playing as English in Default campaign.

Although I see that the manual is wrong.
    - what do you mean? what's the intended way to educate them then?
My was as in manual - when the guy got his 16 I put him in Nottingham, which is castle, where I already built drill square.

Is it possible to reactivate the script in an existing game?

One more thing - princes do not have children - I am worried that family may just end!

Ildar, my mistake, the manual is correct.

The possibility of affecting the script while the campaign is in progress is unknown to me.

It is possible to have your family die out... rare in my experience but possible. I lost my entire family to the plague a couple of months ago.

CelticPagan, it's not something I'd know about, Repman's domain...

But how I deal with it is as follows:

My king and heir become governers because they cannot properly progress down the general path. The royal banner get's in the way. If there is a third family member I make them a general. I try to get a local princess to marry my heir in the first turn, that's ideal. My general rapes and pillages his way to knight banneret then hangs out in a fort while the heir goes and proves himself in the field, the fastest way to gain chiv will be in sparing prisoners and occupying towns so he does a lot of that. There needs to be no doubt in the noble's minds that the heir will make a good king. Hopefully by now there is a boy, son of the heir, on the way and I am nearing or past 30 mil points. So I build my stone castle and drill square and educate him. It's a gamble on the king staying alive because if he were to die and the heir's son become heir then the military path is gimped by the banner again. But it's worth the gamble, if you can get the boy to knight grand cross before he takes the heir's banner then he'll wind up with something like +5 army morale, instead of +2, which can make difference.
