As for the selling of the child, drastic times call for drastic measures and economically you can see the reason for selling the child, but its hard for anyone to cope with, especially the father.

Once Pakistan sorts out its own borders we'll see the Taliban rapidly lose their fighting strength. Soon, all going well for the Pakistani Army, the Taliban will have no garaunteed safe zones. Hopefully then we can start scoring major successes.

Though I agree, Afghanistan has a plethora of problems, many of them aiding the Taliban's cause. Solve those and they will work in our favour.

The decision on whether to keep foreign troops there should rest with the Afghani people, IMO.
