Default Sexist (or not) cover about Palin in "Newsweek"

Well... she has great legs, I give her that.

Indeed, it seems a bad attack by a biased magazine. I have no love for the Republicans but this seems a low blow.

Considering Palin used her gender as a practical cornerstone for the Presidential election, I don't see why she can start complaining now.

Well, I really don't know. I can understand why she would be offended by the title more than the photo.

not any more than how obama used his ethnicity, or how hillary used her gender.

I think the point Syrina was trying to make was that she was using her gender to promote and further herself and McCain for so long that it seems a bit hypocritical for her now to upset about someone I guess claiming that she uses her gender to further herself and calls it a sexism. Obviously she's not the first person to use something about themselves which is outside the mainstream for politicians, but it is sort of a hypocritical claim even though personally I think she should be flattered.

What's so sexist about that cover?

That fact that the reader can tell she's a woman?

    Yep.

    Allow me explain,

    Not sexist:

    Not sexist:

    Sexist:

But seriously: it's an attack of character, but not sexists.
It would be sexists if they portrayed all female politicians as airheads who rely more on their sexy bodies than on their brains, but AFAIK they only do this to female politicians who actually are airheads.

It's her fault. Palin especially but Republicans in general encourage a chauvanistic approach to women in politics. In fact, one of the thing we may well miss about Bush was his happiness to put powerful and competent women in positions of power, regardless of their looks or "all American mom" bollocks.

After all, did she not pose for that photo? Of course she did. She doesn't care about sexism, she is just unhappy the article is negative.

Its part of the double standard honestly I cant stand Palin OR Ms California Carrie Prejean but the type of attacks tossed at both of them is absolutely astonishing in their tone. Very little of the crap tossed at them has anything to do with what they actually say or do and focus on the personal. A serious publication shouldnt even have to ask if that cover is a good idea, it is pretty obvious. Yes Palin will now milk it for all she can just like she did Letterman but it doesnt change the fact that in both cases she is right.

And for those who dont see anything wrong with it, its akin to same nonsense of some websites/publications bringing out the Obama photos of him dressed in traditional Kenya garb when he visited there and using it to try and say something else then the picture was meant to protray. The photo of Palin newsweek used was for a fitness/running article and has nothing to do with her politics. It seeks to demean, lessen her just like the attempt was made with Obama its like *wink* *wink* see he is secretly a muslim dressing in their clothing (ignoring the fact it was Kenyan dress and no way muslim related as a mostly christian nation).

Palin is wrong on SOOO many things, why not just stick to that instead of engaging in this idiotic nonsense. Reminds me of the Mccain cover photo with the lightnign to make him look sinister something the photographer even said afterwards he did intentionally without them knowing about it or the photo spread of Republican women by Time a few years ago that seemed to use not ONE SINGLE "good" picture of any of them.

Imagine someone like that coming up to make speeches and press conferences. She is hotter than a supernova!!

    She has my vote.

Newsweek made a mistake putting a hot picture like that up there. It also shows that Palin is getting on someones nerves for them to produce an issue like that asking what to do with her. This has backfired big time in my opinion.

Sarah Palin is only 'hot' when compared to the likes of Hilary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Rosie O'Donnell, etc. She is absolutely average when compared to women not in politics.

It saddens me greatly that a significant amount of the male population in America would vote for her/the Republicans on the basis of her supposed 'hotness'. And that's the only reason she is any where in politics - she clearly knows jack all about anything.
Under the patronage of Rhah and brother of eventhorizen.

It saddened me that Obama got elected for his sex appeal to white women voters.

But its okay for liberals to have their guy voted in for sex appeal. right?

Palin is an intelligent woman with more leadership qualities than Hillary Clinton or Nancy Pelosi anyday.

By the way she is far from average. You want find many 40 something women that look that hot.
