Thanks for this, gives me some reading I can do; recently did a refresher on the Sengoku period on Japan, and post-Roman Britain seems like a logical step...sort of. I mean, there's swords involved at least.
Therefore, I conclude, that Valve should announce Half Life 2 Episode 3.

Its just some of my own personal readings..some graduate History courses had touched upon this for me but mainly I had to do my own studying. Some sources I have read I forget the names..There is so much more out there.

Hr.

    Strathclyde, yes!
From the Fort of the Britons on Clyde Rock the Briton Empires shall emerge.

He rose early in the morning
when the centurions hasten in the mustering of the army
following from one advanced position to another.
At the front of the hundred men he was first to kill.
As great was his craving for corpses
As for drinking mead or wine
    It was with utter hatred
that the Lord of Dumbarton, the laughing fighter,
    used to kill the enemy.

Do you think that the Dal Riatia king and the the one at Ail-Cluathe, Clinoch 508-540 508AD were of the same person?

The meaning of the Ard Righ is interesting

as far as my understanding Dal Riata and Alt Cluit had separate rulers between 508 and 540.
and for genealogies i would rather put my trust in the Harleian genealogies rather than Bonedd Gwŷr y Gogledd. the latter seem more like propaganda to boost the prestige of certain royal houses.

the institution of Ard Ri or High King was maintained in Ireland(at Tara) and possibly Pictland(at Scone) since ancient time. the Britons seem to have re-established the title in some form after the roman departure, possibly based on structures set in place by Magnus Maximus. at any rate the high kings seldom held any real power outside his own domain, i suppose it was mostly a token of prestige. of course some persons, like Vortigern, might use the title to gain actual political power.
but the title probably lost its importance with the decline of the central government as Britain gradually split up into petty kingdoms. the last holder of the title, as to my knowledge, was Cadwalader king of Gwynedd that died of the plague in 664. by that time the title was a sorry remnant of what could had been.
even the anglo-saxons had some sort of high king in their Bretwalda.

Yes the Bretwalda will be included in the game as an ancillary for a worthy Anglo-Saxon King.
The Arth Ru will be a British Ancillary(British wording)
The Art Ri will be a Gael ancillary

You might see were I'm heading with this
