    Default christmass banned again-not.

Tis the season to persuade the stupid that PC forces are out to ban Christmas,.....

    The Times (for shame)

Christmas will not be Christmas in Dundee this year. All references to the religious holiday have been dropped from the switching-on ceremony for the city’s festive lights.
    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle6915007.ece

Well the lights ceremony is named as such, although the lights are still called Christmas lights ( so the Times fails). But a casual look at Dundee council's festive programme. http://www.dundee.com/winter-light-night.html mentions such activities as Christmas Lights, Sparky the Robot and the Christmas Fairy and Christmas Shopping. There are groups performing Christmas songs, Christmas storytelling and so on. In other words an entirely made up story designed to give the impression that someone has banned Xmas..

Hardly "All references to the religious holiday to be dropped" .Is Lindsay McIntosh a liar, an idiot or is there another explanation for this and the annual parade of someone banning Christmas stories?

And I was wondering when one of these threads would show up. I'm glad you preempted them though.

Whoever is writing the article is just creating hype to sell.

It pisses me off because Christmas is a holy festival, designed to bring peace and reconciliation. It is not an excuse to spread falsehoods and bigotry.

Did I misspell Xmas in the title?, I must read less Tolkien.

If you read the Daily Mail, Christmas gets banned every year.

I expect much better from The Times, though.

If you read the Daily Mail, you wouldn't be on the Internet in the first place, for fear of hackers using proxy servers to hijack your computer and upload all its contents to The Pirate Bay so they can be sold off to Nigerian scammers.

My thoughts too, particularly given that it is supposed to be aimed at the more well informed reader. If the editor thinks he can pull this stunt on his readership, the paper must be beyond redemption. One result though, I managed to get a US Christian site to pull the story.

Damn you, PC Brigade! Damn you for not including the word Christmas in the name of one event and only including it in one hundred and sixty two others! Is nothing sacred?

It's odd. With political correctness, wishing someone a merry Christmas is offensive, as it violates their rights or some nonsense, as does singing Christmas songs. And yet, Santa is shown openly, Christian clubs are formed within Schools, merry Christmas is still said with only a minority of radicals objecting, and the holiday seems as alive as ever.

I guess what I'm saying is, political correctness has infected many areas of our society, but with regards to Christmas only the most radical seek to attack it [or in turn, over blow the degree at which it is attacked]. Which is good.

I think there's a vast difference between "christmas spirit" during december, and christmas spirit in October.

You must not have worked retail during the holiday season. I had to do it once. We started marketing Christmas stuff in early October. From November 1st until Christmas Eve we couldn't play any music except for holiday songs. Between that and the lunatic shoppers who got loonier as the holiday season progressed, it was pure hell.

It must be Christmas time, there's another 'Christmas is banned' thread. A pre-emptive Merry Christmas to the TW Centre!

(Yes, I know this is a completely useless post - but I think the best thing to do is just laugh at this sort of thing).

Why is that newspaper called "The Times"?
    Why not "The Christmas Times"???"?

    OMG! they are banning Christmas!

Every Christmas thing in the Christmas world should have the Christmas word Christmas Christmas in Christmas it!
To Christmas say Christmas differently is Christmas blasphemy!
