Default Two Questions about AI and battles

OK hello to you all, im new and i have these question:

    1. First, when i fight against serious full legion, in my case it was 3 of my full legions against 3 of Egypt full legions.
you know i can only control over one legion, i just cant understand this, once i saw someone controling 4 rows!!
not only two, and bcause of this problem i lost my full legions in that battle...

because the STUPID COMPUTER AI I lost my horses because it sent my horses in the front of deadly Egyptian phalanxes row...

what can i do about it?? and also i can see in the campaign map legions with 2 full rows plus another two companies.

its really annoying me. i dont know what to do about this problem...

can i control over more than one full legion in a battle??

    2. well, in the campaign map the AI is not pretty smart as it should be...
i can expect from other nations to send at least one diplomat to negotiate with me, or send an assassin to kill my captains...

or to make a strategic attack on my cities, but please do something.

its annoying too cause i play strategy game for strategy thinknik and i want challenge...

more than that, when i send diplomats and try to agree upon something they always say NO, i want them to send diplomats from their initiative. but im really disppaointed from the gameplay right now...

I am assuming that legion = stack

    You 3 v 3 Egypt

You can only control up to twenty units personally at once on the battlefield. It sounds to me like you had the controlled by AI option selected on the pre-battle screen for the other two stacks. Just uncheck this to control extra units, however, they won't enter the battle until one of your twenty units is destroyed/routs. If the option is checked then both reinforcements can enter the battle, but the AI being the AI, then you saw what happens...

Campaign AI in TW games has never been it's strength, don't expect anything too complicated.
The AI sends diplomats to me every game, not sure why not for you though. The chance of diplomacy succeding mainly depends on what they want, and also their predisposition towards you eg: Romans will rarely accept a Carthaginian alliance and vice versa. To improve chances diplomats with high influence are key, try building it up, usually through getting trade rights, or map information, and you should find that your future efforts are more successful.

You should try things on a higher level of difficulty. On the AI's point of view, why would i accept negotiations on an upstart human trying to kill me?? On vh/vh they send in assasins alot, but they tend to target your family members only.
or to make a strategic attack on my cities, but please do something.

They do it this way: Make full stack and attack the nearest city.

IF you are not content with the current strategy thinknik, then you should try mods. Some mods like the SPQR and Rome surrectum offer a wider strat map and longer battles, not to mention they are more historically more accurate.

3 stacks vs 3 stacks is a common occurance later on in the end game. I suppose that you could try to make sure that you have no reinforcements when entering a battle and try to pick fights on your terms against single full stacks, or even two which will only help you as a commander.

First of all Thank you about the comments.

Are there any patches for RTW that increase both campagin AI and battle AI?

What about mod? is it a good option?? and what mods do you prefer?

I heard about something realistic rome total war...

any TW game is A STRATEGY GAME with a big map with pretty big stacks, then why strategy and AI is not strength? i don't understand it.
in a strategy game the opponent must be smart and capable of doing something that is complicated or challenging the human.

in the last games like Empire and Napoleon, or Medieval, anything changed? or the opponent is still dumb?

When I said that strategy wasn't TW's strength I was really comparing it to other strategy games, of course, the AI can pull a few unexpected moves out of it's sleeves (Thinking of a Britannia campaign when, having taken most of Gaul, the Germans, my allies, landed on britain with two full stacks, and I was quite weak there.)

In the newer games AI is still a bit of a problem, but less so for Medieval 2. Empire I don't know.

A realistic total war? I think your talking about Rome Total Realism or Europa Barbarorum. Both make the game more historically realistic, but I don't know about AI improvements though.

DarthMod specifically makes the battle AI better.

I think a big problem is that you (not only YOU) know about AI's weakness and
that you're using this as your strength in a battle.

e.g: we all know that an AI army has it's problems with a long phalanx line but still
we bring one to the battlefield. Why not restricting yourself by setting up your own
    house rules?

Give them a chance by offering them weakness yourself. Instead of forming up a long
phalanx line set up 3 or 4 smaller phalanx lines to leave them holes for breaking through
which you then have to fill with micromanagement of your troops. Don't use archers but peltasts in certain
cases. Or let away your skirmishers anyway and go for a melee right from start.
Or give yourself missions in a battle like splitting your army into two seperate ones and
your goal is to combine them together into one during the battle (like they were reinforcements
which have to join the battle in time or everything goes mad) - and so on.

Off course - Darth Mod improves the AI also - RTR (Rome total realism) mod features the Darth Mod
    engine aswell me thinks.
