wish me luck...the first battle was pretty stressful. hopefully this will bring some indirect publicity for your mod and you will get a bigger audience

it was a real pain at first...especially since elephants die when javelins are even mentioned near them

Well, I think the idea is to use the elephants against already engaged missile units. The only problem with the first battle is that most of the units you are fighting have javelins.

I'm currently reading about Phyrrus and in the battles against the Romans he kept his elephants in reserve and used them later in a battle (or when the lines were breached).

i had high hopes they could take on those light cav in melee.....tusks vs short swords....although i didnt expect the cav to throw javs point blank while in melee

Yeah i know...nasty surprise

. Thats why you have to keep them busy first until they throw the javs. then you can smash them in melee, but well, the eles aren't vital...now you can get a breeze in you economy.
