    Default Instant death

I had been having a pretty succesful game as France, I had beaten the Spanish to the new world, consolidated most of France and grabbed a chunk of Northern italy. I have 60,000ish men in in Europe arranged in 4 armies and a fleet of 30 odd galleys sitting in Nice. Then I decided to install the latest patches, largely to try and get rid of the Muslim Cavalry the Incas were spamming and smashing my armies with. Now as soon as I load the game all my neighbours declare war on me (England, Spain and Austria) plus a whole host of minors and countries like kazan.
No matter what I do i can't win this war. If I focus on Spain, Austria takes my East, if I focus on them, which is difficult given that they border me on three sides, the Spanish take my South. The Austrians will not accept peace. Last time I tried to rescue this save, I had beaten off everyone else but Austria, and by now most of my armies had been destroyed. They had overrun my Eastern provinces, but since the beginning of the war they had only demanded Bourgogne. I went to offer them peace, bearing in mind their warscore worked out as 1% because I had won so many battles. Bourgogne = 42%. I offered them Verona, with a value of 20%, refused outright.
How can i get everyone not to declare war on me?

If anyone wants a go for themselves, I'll send them the save file.

EDIT: Sorry, this is for EU3, just to make that clear

No idea. I have a fairly terrible reputation

    How do I check BB?

    EDIT: Apparently it is 37.79/33

EDIT 2: Woo, released a couple of vassals, now it's fine

Concentrate on occupying the country that leads the alliance against you.
While it takes into account the ability of all the countries in it's alliance (if they're in it together) as well as it's own ability to fight, if too many of their own provinces are occupied they'll quit. I think you'll get 100 warscore if you totally occupy them, regardless of the state of any of it's allies. Very handy if by chance the alliance leader is a one province nation and you have a bunch of claims on it's allies...

The bigger nations seem to nearly always lead the alliance. The only situation I've seen the opposite in is when the Emperor country steps in to protect a member.

    How is the leader determined?

I'm not sure. It's probably determined by a number of factors, but considering what I've seen probably not war capacity. To that end it's probably either manpower/number of military units, although who is declaring war is a factor. I've been leaders of alliances as Georgia (see my post in the show your empire thread) with Russia or Castille as my allies. They were certainly more powerful than me but I was the leader regardless...

In wars of succession I tend to think the nations in question tend to lead the alliances?

Is there anyway to lower BB quickly? As it stands, if I get into a defensive war and win and take land, I end up crossing my limits and veryone goes to war with me

    Hmmm... makes sense.

I have a feeling the defender tends to lead his alliance, unless he's a vassal or junior partner in a union. EU3 wiki doesn't have anything about this either...

That is almost always the case from what i've seen, ivan.

I hate how alliances in EU3 work, i wish they were more like how they worked in EU2.
