Default Silvio Berlusconi praises Kazakh men for virility, in Borat-style quip [LOL]

Italy's joke-loving prime minister struck a distinctly Borat tone on Friday when he told the president of Kazakhstan that a recent spike in the country's population was due to the virility of its menfolk.

Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi, center, is photographed with two unidentified women in Sardinia, 2004 Photo: AP

Silvio Berlusconi, who at 73 still likes to boast of his own virility and love of women, praised the central Asian country's "great natural resources and huge demographic growth" at a meeting with its president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, in Rome.
He then smiled and said the fact that its population had risen by 1.4 million over the last decade, to 16 million, "demonstrates the great vitality of all Kazakh males".
The quip recalled some of the remarks made by Sacha Baron Cohen's fictional television journalist Borat in the 2006 hit film Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, such as: "I am very strong physique and I can hold a very large woman down for three hours... I am strong."
The two leaders held a meeting in which Mr Berlusconi said he sealed business deals worth "billions of dollars" for Italian resources companies.
Mr Berlusconi recently called himself "Superman" and a "bullfighter" as he tried to fend off a series of sex scandals, including claims he slept with a prostitute at his home in Rome a year ago and that 30 young models and actresses were paid to attend his private parties.
He frequently declares his love of beautiful women, but it is a feeling that is increasingly unreciprocated.
An online petition against his chauvinistic quips and saloon bar repartee has attracted the signatures of more than 100,000 Italian women.
Mr Nazarbayev thanked Mr Berlusconi for supporting the Kazakh presidency of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe next year.
Human rights campaigners say Kazakhstan is not fit to chair the OSCE because it flaunts human rights and harasses critics of the government.

The question is: does Berlusconi run the country competently? If so, then I see no reason why anyone should care for his personal character of his scandals. Still, there is a imperceptible tendency by foreigners to apply the traits they see in a country's leader onto the actual people of that country.

Compared to Italy's numerous shattered leftist parties he and his cronies look like decent politicians, thats for sure. Fact remains: Berlusconi is a chav.

Italy deserves a better political spectrum on all sides of it.

Italy deserves a better political spectrum, but as long as the present one is the real one, Berlusconi is like a demi-god between monkeys, whether you laugh or cry.

You love the fairytales you are told about Italian politics, and threads where you can be derisive towards something you completely ignore and are not informed about.

Like everyone else, except a select few.

There is an old saying though, always worth considering: he laughs best who laughs last.

Firstly, what fairytales are these and secondly where was I being derisive?
