    Default RTR FOE systems requirements

well just attempted to play RTR FOE and its really lags. I play RTR Platinum, and EB and those games are fine. My laptop specs are AMD Turion dual-core RM-70 2.00 ghz, 4gb of RAM and Nvidia GeForce 8200M G. not the best gaming laptop but i got it to play Age of Conquerors and for school. Then i got hooked on the RTW games. anything i should know? Thanks and enjoy COD-MW2

I would turn down the Vegetation and grass. And from there on keep experimenting until you get it to run smooth.
In my experience the trees are the worst lag offenders

Same problem here. I play EB1.2 smoothly with everything high and units in huge. BUT FOE, everything on medium and low, units only in large and still lags. After many testing, I found out it's the units (zoom in) are causing the lags.

Are you playing campaign or a custom battle. I found out that I had a little lagging myself during custom battles because of the lightening system so whenever I play a custom battle I change it to midday instead of morning and the lag was gone.

Both, I need to do some more testing. I don't play battles with PAUSE, but with lags it's frustrating.

RTW mods are usually harsher on systems than is RTW - basically they usually have higher quality skins for the units. As Finn has posted vegetation and grass are the main killers. I would then start to turn down any other environmental affects (glints etc) and then buildings.

Maybe the thing to do is to start with the minimum graphic settings (including unit size) and experiment with what works best for your systems. When I first started playing RTW when it was first released I'dplay with units on huge but most of the graphics on the lowest settings - I preferred 'epic' to 'pretty'......
