Default Korean naval ships 'clash at sea' (!)

    Holy !

What is going to happen after this?!

There has been a clash between ships from the rival navies of North and South Korea, according to the South Korean news agency Yonhap.

The agency says that a South Korean warship fired a shot at a North Korean vessel which crossed the demarcation line off their western coast.
The North Korean ship returned fire, but no injuries are reported so far.

Haven't there been shots fired over the boarder (Sea?) over the years and it hasn't escalated into something major?

Anyways, here is my :O reply:

    Uhhh ohhhh.

    Probably nothing will happen.

Nothing will come of it, from The Times

There were no signs of tension along the heavily fortified land border separating the two Koreas. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said that there were no unusual troop movements on the North Korean side of the land border.

Nothing, it happens quite often that they are small skirmishes.

Actually, it wasn't shot down. The American plane was being shadowed by a Chinese fighter and they got too close and bumped. The Chinese plane crashed and the pilot was killed. The American plane, damaged, landed at the closest airfield, which was Chinese. For the price of 1 fighter and pilot the Chinese had an American spy plane which they investigated thoroughly before returning it stripped down. The American crew was returned in short order.

Agreed. It doesn't seem like something major.

Yea, both Koreas are still at war and occasionally skirmish. Hundreds (maybe thousands) of US and South Korean soldiers have died on the DMZ since 1953. And till the US was replaced by ROK, it was considered by the military to be an active war zone and soldiers were awarded combat badges during patrols.

This happens often. Like three "major" ones in the past decade alone.

What's gonna happen? Nothing. This happens all the time over there. Both sides will be in an uproar and want formal apologies etc and eventually both sides will just be grumbling under their breath until the next incident.

The South-Korean is a quadrillion times stronger, the North-Koreans should have been wiser...

But it ca do a lot of damage to South Korea, like shooting a nuke at Seoul, they have the nukes, do they have the capability to get them to Seoul, I don't know, but I would expect that they do, it's not that far from the border...

They would be idiots to use nukes when they could cause just as much or more damage with the conventional ordinance they have trained on Seoul, without risking the environmental problems that would effect the whole region.

    Take it easy,

Well, it wouldn't be much of a transition looking at the country in question.

They would probably have to mount their nuclear device on a cargo ship in order to get it to Seoul. Creating a nuclear blast is much easier than creating a nuclear weapon. The trick is not only to create something that goes "boom!", it is also necessary to build it in such a way that it can fit on top of a missile and we haven't seen North Korea do that yet.
