Considering that most people either don't care, are agnostics or atheists in Sweden (I'm an atheist), this shouldn't come as much of a surprise imo. Even the somewhat ''christian'' people like my mother practically have no differences in their lives compared to atheists (she believes in god and respects religion, that's about it), there are very few real religious people left. Thankfully this trend is continuing at a good pace due to enlightenment in recent times, soon we can dispose of the church and all organized religion.

Maybe it has something to do with society creating religion , not god. And back then those things were accepted by society but they arent anymore so religion has changed with society. You see how that works?

Friend, sorry to intervene, but you are mistaken a bit. Those rules about stoning homosexuals are in the Old Testament. Jesus never said that. His teachings are sometimes clouded by imperfect translation and are open to many interpretations. Of course his main ideas are quite clear - love, tolerance, goodness, conscience etc. Sometimes I´m astonished that these simple and universal ideas have prevailed in spite of all the efforts of religious zealots and literalists
But you´re certainly right about religion being created and shaped by society. Sadly the message of Jesus is often practiced with a good deal of narrow-mindedness. In my view this lesbian bishop must be a remarkable woman with an extraordinary life experience. Her appointment as a bishop doesn´t go against the teachings of Jesus, but the opposite

He never said it no. But he did say..

He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."

"Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures."

Everything moses , the prophets and the psalms wrote must be fulfilled (old testament).

So jesus says we must stone homosexuals as it is written in the law of moses.

The New testament signified a new covenant between man and God, that doesn't apply to Christians.
