Just an update on my problems.

I found that the only way I could install the 3.5 patch was to have two Internet explorer windows open.
The patch open in one, showing Data Docs and map reset.
The other the corresponding Data Docs and map reset from Total war\ ExRM

I ran the Map reset firstly.

I then opened the Patch Data folder to show its contents ( Loading Screen etc)
Opened the ExRM Data folder to also show its contents ( Loading Screen etc)

On the Patch I highlighted everything ( CTRL + A ) and dragged the lot to the ExRM\Data folder and dropped the lot in there.
The same was done for the Docs Folder.
If this was what I was meant to do in the first place...well that just proves the sharpest tool in the box is not me !

This way I actually had an overwrite message for overwritten files.
Before when 'dragging and dropping' the folder ( either Data or Docs ) all I got was a Data folder in the Data folder but no overwrite message.

Don't know if this will help anyone.
Again thanks to those that assisted me.

BTW. Quinn - this is a fabulous mod... thanks .

Interesting. I'm sorry you had so much trouble, but I'm glad you got it worked out in the end.
