About the ghurids, considering they are an emergent faction and were historically situated far off to the west of the current map (in iran/afghanistan), I would like to see if anyone is interested in the ghurids not being in the game, but instead add the Sena empire to the left of the Pagan kingdom? it makes sense too because the Sena around the beginning time frame for the game (1171-1181) dominated northeastern india and ruled bengal, bihar, orissa, varanasi, and assam and even conquered delhi at one point, and so were a regional power. besides the ghurids never invaded eastern asia, whereas the Sena had a lot of contact with the eastern Asian states, especially with Bagan. looking at the current map to fit the Sena empire it would have to be extended to the west but only by a LITTLE bit. if the ghurids haven't been developed too much yet, then please consider scrapping the ghurids and replacing them with the Sena empire.
Also, I would like to propose that Jeju island off the southern coast of Korea, the Ryukyua islands south of Japan, the Andaman islands off the west coast of Thailand, and Visaya which is central Philippines be added as new regions. All these regions would fit on the current map, and they would be important strategic locations in the game, kind of like how crete, rhodes, malta, and the balearic islands were important in europe.
Oh, and another thing. I was looking through some of the other mods and realized that they had some cool campaign map edits that looked awesome. For example in the Regions and Provinces mod they have culture linked rebel banners. can AUH somehow include that? it would be more historically accurate too, which i think AUH is trying to do somewhat. i don't mean they should try to represent all the cultures of asia, but some influential ones. of course, they would still be rebel settlements, but i was hoping if these certain rebel areas could get their own culture unique flag AND one unique mercenary unit that can only be recruited in that area, just to make the game more culturally diverse. the cultures are:
.MIAO people of China. They were known for being fierce warriors and were often used by the Han kingdoms to suppress rebellions by non-Han peoples.
.ZHUANG people of China. China's biggest non-Han minority group, they were important to the politics of southern China. they could be like a rebel province or two in southern china.
.UYGHUR people of China. They were the rulers of the Kara-Khanid khanate, who became subject to the Kara-Khitans. they could be the rebel provinces around the Kara-Khitan.
.TAGALOG people of Luzon, which is the big island in northern Philippines. They consisted of some powerful trading kingdoms of the time, serving as middle men between China and southeast asia. and Luzon is already a region in the game.
.MALAY people of Visaya, central Philippines. they were immigrants from the kingdoms of srivijaya, kediri, and other malay states.
.THAI people of Thailand, of course. an influential people group in southeast asia.
.SHAN people of eastern Burman. many Burmese kings were actually of mixed Bamar-Shan descent, and the Shan formed some powerful kingdoms in the area.
.RAKHINE people of west coast of Burma. these people formed the Arakan kingdom which was an important trading state. i think arakan, the proposed rebel region, should get a rakhine ethnic unit and a Tamil people unit. Although not indigenous to the region, due to the Chola empire's influence a lot of Tamil peoples settled in southeast Asia.
.MON people of southern Burma, who actually at this time had their own state, the Haripunchai kingdom. they often contended with the Bamar of Pagan kingdom for regional supremacy. some say they were actually the ethnic majority in southeast asia in the setting when AUH begins (1171-1181)
.ASSAMESE people of Assam. they were an important people in the region and formed the Kamarupa kingdom. assam should get three unique units I think, an assamese people unit, a Naga people unit, who were a fiercely independent people who also lived in the area, and a Gurkha unit, who were the rulers of Nepal, a bit to the east of Assam.
.RYUKYUANS of the Ryukyuan islands, to the south of Japan. They were important middle-men historically for trade between China and Japan, as well as with the southeast asian states.
.LAO people of Laos.
.AINU people of Hokkaido, Japan and southern Sakhalin, Russia.
.TAIWANESE aborigines
.LI people of Hainan island, China.
.YI people of China The Bai people ruled the kingdom of Dali, but the Yi people lived in the areas it ruled. They could be like a rebel province next to the Dali kingdom.
.KYRGYZ people. they should be somewhere in the west-central part of the map. an ancient people.
.TATAR people. the Mongols were called Tatars by Europeans but this is wrong, as the tatar were a unique people. fought in the Mongol invasions.
.BENGALI people unit (in case Sena empire gets rejected)
lemme know what you guys think
