which EXE file should I play with - Alexander or BI?

the description for ALX.exe says the AI is better. Is this "improvement" over vanilla/BI's AI discernible to anyone?

Is the BI shield wall ability (and any other abilities for that matter) too critical for some units to be left behind in favor of using ALX.exe, or is it senselessly overpowered?

Any comments on which exe file you play XGM with would be appreciated.

Alex.exe gives you a way better AI. If you think that's more important then a few things like a shield wall, hording etc. then play with Alex.exe.

It's a tough choice. Fighting with Hoplites in shieldwall is fun, and hordes can also be entertaining. But on balance I prefer Alex. The decisive factor for me was the unit scattering bug which can be a real pain with phalanx units. It's fixed in the Alex exe.

I say play with both and decide which features you like more.

Is the camera bug fixed in Alex?
In BI and Vanilla, double clicking on a unit/card will zoom you relatuvely close to the unit. If you press one of the camera movement buttons, it zooms in quicker.
In Alex, I always had to pause it because when you press a camera movement button, it halts the zooming.

No that's a problem with Alex.exe, but after playing it for a little month and your completely used to it and you won't have to use the pause any more.

So far, I have played with ALX.exe version installed. I just made a copy of the entire RTW folder except the XGM ones. Then I installed the BI.exe version of XGM. Now I have both versions installed at the same time. I made suitable desktop shortcuts for easy access of both versions.

Of course you need some hard disk room to do this.

And here's me playing with just vanilla. If the AI is improved then I'll have to try and get round to that at some point. I keep getting an error when trying to reinstall it though...
