    Default preferences problem

First I have to start off by saying that this is the best game ever, it's not a mod, it's a game on it's own
You guys should be worshiped in a temple

To my problem. I am running Windows 7 64-bit so that might the problem I think, however the preferences text file in my data folder is absent. As soon as I installed FoE I found it in the FoE data folder. The problem is that I modify the preferences text for the Arrow markers and the minimal UI but the changes wont show up. I also have made sure that my whole RTW folder is ok with permissions from the system.
I even copied the preferences text file from AoE to the main RTW folder but to no avail. Any idea friends?

It's not totally clear to me what pref.txt you're editing, but you should edit this one "RTW\FOE\preferences\preferences.txt". No need to copy it to the main RTW data folder

And if you're not sure, you can edit the preferences.txt via the launcher. To be sure you're editing the right one

So the launcher changes the preferences as well

I have "Disable arrow markers - checked and also "Minimal UI. For some reason they still show in my game

    Thanks.

No wonder it kept on doing Autosave.

I noticed that FOE uses the BI engine. In fact when I start playing BI my preference settings (min-ui..)work.
They don't work for Rtw and for FOE but only for BI.

Hmm... That's very odd... I'm sorry, but I wouldn't know what could be wrong here

I hope someone else can help you...

Pat, do you have to use the save button after you edit those changes. I remember the number of times i edited the shortcut properties and forgot to hit the save.

Does Windows 7 have UAC? Do your changes go into your 'application' data / virtual store like they do for Vista?

I've been using Windows XP and the preferences in the FOE/preferences folder are the ones that get used.
