Cant find steam?

When i startup the launcher and click to play Fate of the Empires I get an error cannot find steam. I have also tryed inputing -mod:RTR PE into the launch options onto steam and trying to start it. It instead launches RTR platinum which I have also installed. Any ideas on what I have to do? thanks.

I tryed reinstalling fresh and removed RTR platinum but now i have the same cant find steam error and launching the game through steam only starts Vanilla BI.

This launches the game that's in the RTR PE folder, ie. RTR Platinum. Change that to the name of your FOE folder, and it should launch FOE.

Im sorry but wheres the RTR PE folder? I seem a little lost as where im changing it.

Just a couple of questions, so as to make helping you easier.

1. How familiar are you with Windows? Do you understand what right-clicking and properties means?
2. Do you know how to navigate through your folders?

I have a feeling my FOE isnt installing properly. The FOE only has 4 folders is that correct?

1. Can you note down where your FOE folder is located? Also note down where your RTW folder is located.
2. Can you list the contents of your FOE folder?

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\New Folder\Steam\SteamApps\common\rome total war gold\FOE

FOE folder has /Data /extra/ preferences/ readme folders located inside them
I also notice when i start the launcher and try to edit the preference folders it says it cannot find FOE\preferences\preferences.txt
I checked and there is no file in the folder

Nope theres no sortcut on the deskop, neither did the instalation ask for one, I have just rtr plat shorcuts. I have a sortcut named RTR VII Launcher which goes to
"C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\New Folder\Steam\SteamApps\common\rome total war gold\launcher\Rome Total Realism VII.exe"

-mod:RTR PE XXX didnt work for me. Instead i put -mod:FOE and bam it work!
