Thread: Going back and playing shogun or MTW 1

I still regularly play MTW. Never had a chance at playing Shogun unfortunately.

The BAI is very good in comparison to, say, Empire or Rome. They use terrain effectively, use reserves and will often try to flank you with cavalry. Battles in MTW are always very challenging. The only real drawback, as mentioned before, was the primitive diplomacy. Even then, that makes more sense than the one in Empire where nations declare war on you and then don't attack for instance. That really annoys me. If a nation in MTW declares war on you, they have thought it through and will strike fast.

I had some awesome experinces with Shogun again. i tried loading it up and playing it again and it works except i cant see units. so i jsut played with auto resolve. Even with that i got into some awesome scenarios. The first game i was shizuna and i ended up getting allied with the umagiwa (spelling?)

pretty much we were on the total opposite sides of the map. After everything was said and done i owned half of the map and my allie owned the other half.We both jsut have armies sitting in the center staring each other down. This literally has been lasting for like 5 years in the game maybe longer. I'm jsut teching up and making a bigger army pretty much before i invade.

but This was awesome becuase any other total war they would have attack already with a small force or something or broke the alliance a while ago.

in another game i was takeda and this game taught me a lesson for sure. The mori kicked me out of their territory and i retreated to my three other territories. Their i decide to not build an army and tech up. well that was a major mistake because i got ganged on by two other factions and destroyed quickly.

Later i decided to try again and played as takeda, this time i mde a army to defend me and allied with oda. oda was beating up the light blue (forgot their names) and i decide to take soem of the light blues territory while they were destractied with oda. pretty much me and odda split up the territory. The game continued with me wiping out hojo and umigawa was destroyed and their land was given to the shizuna who was also my allie. I left a small province open to entice them and see if they would attack they waited a while before my army was almost done with hojo before attacking.

This whole tiem i had a bunch of territoies open for oda to attack me and if he betrayed me and took over my main bases i would ahev surly lsot teh game. but he never did and i dont think he ever wanteed too. he was also fighting of the mori since they started a war and i guys he was also being attack by shizuna as well. but it was the first time when i realized that This allie was truly a allie and not a bag stabber liek a lot of the alliances in later games.

havent finish either game yet so maybe things can change. i was thinking of finishing them later if i can finally get my armies to pop up on the battlefield. tired of autoresolve screwing me over <_<
