Default On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month...

The most tragic and interesting war, that shaped the 20th century, from the rise of Hitler and the Soviet Union to the championing of independence movements globally it is obvious why this war should be remembered.

Such a tragic war, with so many dead, for no great crusade.

This is also a time of remembrance, weather it be Armistice Day, Veteran's Day, or whatever holiday is celebrated in your country, it will be a day to remember.

I know we do posses the advanced Calendars as you foreigners call them in Africa, last year I made the post 3 days early, and I won't be at the PC for the next few days so I figured I would make it now.

at 11:11 on November 11th the Carnival Season starts in Germany. I always wondered wether it has something to do with the Armistice...
Frederick II of Prussia: "All Religions are equal and good, if only the people that practice them are honest people; and if Turks and heathens came and wanted to live here in this country, we would build them mosques and churches."
Norge: "Give me a break. Nothing would make you happier than to see the eagle replaced with a crescent."

Ummon:"enforcing international law will require that the enforcers do not respect it"
Olmstead v USA:"Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. To declare that in the administration of the criminal law the end justifies the means-to declare that the government may commit crimes in order to secure the conviction of a private criminal-would bring terrible retribution. Against that pernicious doctrine this court should resolutely set its face."

Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who can't defend themselfs.
When you stand before god you can not say "I was told by others to do this" or that virtue was not convenient at the time

The saddest thing is that it solved nearly nothing.

In fact it worsened every issue that the Europeans already had between each other.

Fascism and communist revolutions were the direct child's of this horrendous and useless war.

Pushing the boat out a lot to find a counter argument, but it meant chemical (battlefield) weapons were not used on anything like a widespread usage in the Second World War (white phosporous and napalm are the only ones I've any knowledge of their usage).

Which I think is overshadowed by the deaths of 50,000,000 people unfortunately.
