Simple poll. Some think it's impossible, others manageable, a few easy but monotonous. What do you think? And if you could change something to alter the difficulty more to your preferences, what would you change?
1 Pffft... this is a joke. You guys are noobs.
2 It's not terribly easy... it could be better!
3 Fun kicking butt but I get powerful too quick.
4 Eh, caught me off guard a couple times.
5 It certainly has it's moments.
6 Lots of stacks but I'm kind of managing.
7 Lots of stacks and I'm suffering!
8 Uh, restarting games is commonplace.
9 Omg, can't play half the factions! HRE? Wth?
10 Impossible! Screw this, I'm going back to 6.1.
I've heard about it but I've yet to try 6.2.
What's 6.2 and how do I get it?
The thing I would change is more realism on alliances etc. I think it's stupid that the factions which you border with always want to attack you, even when they are at war with other factions. Also I would like to see more realism at alliances. When you are a very strong faction I think it would be realistic that little factions would like to alliance with you to keep their lands safe, instead of attacking you.
Let the big ones battle eachother, and the little ones choose a side to join and trying to get some profit out of it.![]()
If anything, I wish one could get the AI to double-team with alliances and multiple stacks more often. For example, there's nothing more fun than having Lithuania and Novgorod attack me together. Alas, I suspect it's not possible... just the random happening that 2 allied armies are near an ememy, or 2 enemy stacks happen to be in the same place at the same time. I wonder if there's a way to increase the player's threat to the AI, making the units "appear" more powerful thus prompting the AI to use multiple stacks for a single player's settlement/army.
@KittySN: Wow... you're insane! Being the strat map fan that I am, I HATE multiple full stacks. I suck at RT battles (lousy micromanagement mostly + troops not always obeying me), so multiple stacks usually spell death for me.

best thing about multistacks is that normally... each one sucks, so you just keep whooping them, retraining and fighting them again, soon you have forces that cut through stacks like butter
The Duke of Dunwich and surrounding fiefdom
For any who are interested by my FF on occurrences in Rhun and beyond; I have begun a new project (not because the old one is finished, just opening more room for ideas) about one of the minor characters, Rankal. It is in the Third Age AAR index and here is the link http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=376994
Well, I figured it'd be ideal for the AI to specifically target weak areas with overwhelming numbers. Retraining troops to cut through stacks like butter is hard if they all die. I also more specific settlements were targeted and not just outlying settlements. It makes it easier to defend if you just have to watch your borders. March those stacks right into the player's heartland!
Better AI would be nice, yes. And 'real' alliances too.
BTW: I voted 6, playing on VH/VH.
The Enemy of Human Souls
Sat grieving at the cost of coals;
For Hell had been annexed of late,
And was a sovereign Southern State.
If you wanted to mod, in descr_strat (I think) there is a thing under each faction that says Prefers Naval Invasion, then a yes or no. I could be wrong, but changing some nos to yeses may make naval invasions happen more often.
Please note that I have not tried this, so if someone were to undertake this, it would be at their own risk![]()

You mean in descr_sm_factions.txt, in the data folder. Other part is right. Maybe I should try that too. I probally have a backup somewhere, so there is no 'risk'.

So the difficulty does fit most people?
Best BAI? Really Bad AI....

i lost my Lithuanian VH VH campaign. on 6.2/1.3 I gave up after around 50 turns. I'm pretty screwed, losted one major army at sea, lost Reval to my in-laws (the Russian), on my way of losing Thorn to the HRE. with my only real army that took Visby in an epic battle (500 cav lost 20 men and killed a total of 2000 enemy) stuck in Scandinavia.
First time I really really got check mate
1180, an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity in East Asia, it's technology and wealth is the envy of the world. But soon conflict will engulf the entire region with great consequences and lasting effects for centuries to come, not just for this region, but the entire known world, when one man, one people, unites.....
well...it makes me have to play all of my battles instead of autoresolve..
