    Default Problem with the battle_moddels

    hello

I am editing a battle_moddels file. The base is the Third Age Mod File.
I create a faction, and i try to give it exactly the same units as an existing one. So campaign is ok, EDU, EDB work fine each (just one name added each time.

Then come the "battle_moddels " file.. i add several entries, for the same type of unit , i make a test and it works.
After that i add one and here the game crack at start, black screen with my poor mouse.... Nothing in the error log.

I think there is no mistake in my "syntax" here is my entry :

    9 elf_sword
    1 1
    41 unit_models/_Units/my_units/elf_lod0.mesh 6400
    2
    5 egypt
    48 unit_models/_Units/my_units/textures/elf.texture
    55 unit_models/_Units/my_units/textures/elf_normal.texture
    39 unit_sprites/egypt_elf_sword_sprite.spr
    6 lindon
    48 unit_models/_Units/my_units/textures/elf.texture
    55 unit_models/_Units/my_units/textures/elf_normal.texture
    39 unit_sprites/egypt_elf_sword_sprite.spr

    2
    5 egypt
    59 unit_models/_Units/my_units/textures/elf_attachment.texture
    66 unit_models/_Units/my_units/textures/elf_attachment_normal.texture
    6 lindon
    59 unit_models/_Units/my_units/textures/elf_attachment.texture
    66 unit_models/_Units/my_units/textures/elf_attachment_normal.texture

    0
    1
    4 None
    16 MTW2_2HSwordsman
    0
    1
    24 MTW2_2HSwordsman_Primary
    0
    16 -0.090000004 0 0 -0.34999999 0.80000001 0.60000002

What i add is in Bold, and without my entries, it works..

At the begining of the file there is this line :

    22 serialization::archive 3 0 0 0 0 1147 0 0

Did i reach a limit on a file?? Did i make a mistake?? I am lost or blind here..
( there is a limit and i though it was for the number of different units in EDU only, but it seems to be extended to battle_moddels )

    thanks.

Is lindon an actual faction name in descr_sm_factions?

yes it is... the new factions are working fine they are on the map they can recruit... and i make 4 or 5 entries with lindon on the battle_models file before that crash, and after test it was working...
    i don't understand..

Few people seem to understand the mysteries of the modelsdb file. I'm having much the same trouble--here's a few little things. Have you incremented the model count number at the very top of the file? Are all your strings counted right? Are your models in the right location to be referenced? Etc.
Unfortunately, I've done all the above and am having trouble adding units to the americas campaign.

that's what you call the model count number.... :

    22 serialization::archive 3 0 0 0 0 1147 0 0

each time i had an entry shall i have to change it?
can i put it to 2800 to not be worried for amoment?

i will also try to delete unused entry just to see if.... but not convinced

2 years ago i edited this files.... it was simple there was only syntax mistake, or a thing iforget but here i am sure of my lines...

EDIT : changing the serialization number make the crach too..

The 1147 is the number of models. You have to change it every time you add a new model. This doesn't always fix the mistake, but it certainly is a problem if you haven't been doing it.

Use the ModelDB Checker to check for line counts and the model count.

You might have to edit it if you are using custom factions.

unfortunetly the checker is like me, he don't like the "0" not at the end of the line... but efficient for the rest.

    thanks.
