Whether using the launcher or the Standard FOE exe it goes to the regular BI movie and then crashes at the end. I have patched RTW to 1.5 and BI to 1.6 for sure before installing FOE. I cleaned everything off my computer first, including deleting any orphaned registry keys. Coudl someone help me out?
Also, I thank everyone who worked on this mod, it looks fantastic from reading the manual already.

Try putting the -nm switch in the shortcut.
That got me to the selection of a faction screen, but it crashed after I selected "Start Campaign". So close....the agony.
Try deleting the map.rwm file. Maybe it has been corrupted somehow. Which mirror did you download from, and what is the size of the downloaded file?
Ok, so I wondered if the problem was...Vista...again...so in the shortcut menu I clicked "Compatibility" and made it go back to be compatible with Windows XP service pack 2. That allowed me into the campaign map. Thought you might like to know in case someone else has the same problem. I'm playing the Pyrrhus battle now, I'll let you know if I have any other issues.
maybe you should flag "execute as administrator" in the property settings...
it helped me on win7 with other mods

Can I play this mod with alex.exe or rtw.exe ? I dont have barbarian invasion installedI really don't want to reinstall it, it will delete other mods too.
I'm sorry but FOE, like TIC before it, has been designed to work mod-foldered in a BI environment.
Looks like I have to reinstall it![]()
How would the installation process change for the Steam version of RTW Gold?

yah, i have been able to get to the main screen...sort of on steam....but it crashes since something related to horde units isnt there...which is odd since i have the gold edition on steam which comes with both.
this is what i put in the shortcut which got the mod to run for a little bit...
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 4760 -show_err -nm -enable_editor -mod:FOE
but what do i do to resolve this missing horde crash?

Well, if your Steam RTW BI crashes there isn't much chance of getting a mod that needs RTW BI to work.....

its weird...its like it wont let me make a shortcut or anything to the game. just for the main RTW. only way i can run BI is using the gamelist and selecting it from a screen after running RTW Gold...
EDIT: actually none of the shortcuts work within the STEAM files...only ones that work i have to make from the gameslist in steam...wtf....anyways what would happen if i removed the horde files...will any factions just die out?

Try these instructions that I got from the Norman Invasion mod forum. I changed the shortcut to reflect the one used in FOE.
If using STEAM then go to "My Games", right-click on the "Barbarian Invasion" item and select "Properties". Select "Set Launch Options" and in the box that comes up enter-show_err -mod:FOE You can then "Create a Desktop Shortcut" for the mod using those parametres.
i have WIndows xp i have Clean RTw , barbarian invasion and patch 1.6 Bi then i v instaled FOE.1.1 then put patch 1.2 and do as u said , Owerwite all or yes to all. after that i cracked RTw into rtw folder . when i wanted to Start CAmpaign it said* please select file from the list* and after i *exit RTR* it apears * Eror in some file , Descr barbarian invasion campaign start* or smth like that , ANyone can Help ?![]()
i tried to *delete map ui* and some other things but i can RUn Campaign or some battle
when im doing the set up on the part where you choose the directory every time i try to continue it says ''You must point to the Valid Rome total war- Barbarian invasion install directory'' even though its already on it. and i cant continue
edit: oh im cool. apparently the default directory for the exe is for creative assembly folder when mines in the activision one
