Rome: Total Realism will not run...

Hello,
I am new to RTR. I have only just downloaded the Platinum version. I ensured that I had all the correct patches for RTW (bearing in mind that I do not have BI) and installed RTR. After the installation, I try clicking on the desktop icon for RTR and an alert pops up telling me that Windows could not find the selected program. My options were "Browse" or "Cancel." I chose browse and selected the file into which I installed RTR and yet another alert told me that Windows did not know which program to run RTR with. At this point I gave up on the venture.
My operating system is Windows XP and all of my system's specifications meet the requirements. I will post all my specs at the bottom. I installed RTR to a folder I made for it in My Documents. Someone please help me get the darn game to work!

You`ve installed it in the wrong place. Your game probably installs in a folder called The Creative Assembly while RTRPE has the default path of the older versions of the game, that is Activision.

You have to install RTR to the RTW folder. RTR is not a game by itself and need it parent files (RTW) to work. RTR icon will link to the RTW.exe from your original installation and if it.
