I chose other because the question is subjective. What is the social standing of the person you are asking? Would they have a different standing at the time then they do now? They say you can not choose your parents I believe it is true then as well as now. If you were born an aristocrat or a person who relies on the aristocracy then you will be a Royalist. If you were middle class or lower class and wanted a change either so you could contribute to the running of state and gain power, or to better your lot then you would be a revolutionist. Asking from this point in time seems unlikely to give a true answer to the situation that people would find themselves.

Actually it does. With Jefferson it would have been easier to be a revolutionary because he keeps his land if they win. The likleyhood of the British winning was low because of the resources and men commited to the cause at the distance, if he had sided with the King he would have had to fight harder for his land due to his alienation of others. The American Revolution was lead by native born aristocrats in America anyway. In France there was no chance for an Aristocrat to join the revolutionaries because they were all out on their ear.
You cant have a revolution without the middle class wanting to gain power, even the Bolshevik's leaders were middle class. What you can have is a revolution that works with a strata of aristocrats or does not.

If I knew how the revolution would end, I'd definetly side with the Monarchists. Without that knowledge, I'd side with the people.

If I had known what was going to happen after the revolutionaries won, or if I were a nobleman, probably the Royalists, unless a miracle happens and changes my mind - say, if the radicals in the rebel camp all dropped dead on the spot.
If I were just an ordinary French peasant/middle-class guy with no idea of what was to follow though, I'd be with the rebels in a heartbeat.
And if I had gone with the revolutionaries (assuming I survive of course) I'd have supported the Thermidorian Reaction against Robespierre's Reign of Terror (assuming the revolutionaries succeed as they did historically of course, if I go Royalist I have no intention of letting my side lose).
Royalists. The revolutionaries were crazy bastards.
All things have sprung from nothing and are borne forward to infinity. Who can follow out such an astonishing career? The Author of these wonders, and He alone, can comprehend them. - Blaise Pascal

And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.
He was not a native of that Kingdom and he was obviously an antimonarchist a state of similar persuasion would have been more conducive to relations with his government in the long run than a kingdom of empirical values.

Revolutionaries
Without them France would have had kings still. Kings are losers.
Revolutionaries, death to monarchs and aristocrats.
Royalists, LONG LIVE THE MONARCHY!

And considering what did happen after, the royalist certainly didnt win. Dont know what you people think that.... the republic still stands today.
How many republics have the French had? I think they are on their fifth republic. It did not last till today. They had two Empires a return to the Monarchy and a German occupation. Not in that order but it certainly cannot be considered the same republic that stands today the constitution is completely different.

Off ourse isnt the same republic, but the mistic is there aswell is the flag. The very basic ideals are there. listen the french national anthem there is good clue. off course we cant compare todays day to the time of french revolution, we can only analise certain aspects of it.
Revolutionaries, although I would have opposed the Jabocobins and sided with the Girondins... although I would stress the importance of bringing the revolution throughout the world rather than corrupting it with petty-nationalism.
Difficult question. All sides eventually ended up with blood on their hands.
To which the people (and consequently your opponents) would have promptly stated that they don't care for your world revolution, and there would be the end of your political future. One must never underestimate the latent power of nationalism.although I would stress the importance of bringing the revolution throughout the world rather than corrupting it with petty-nationalism.

If I retained my present social class in my trip back to the French Revolution, the Royalists obviously.
