To make the sieges more challenging because the AI is incapable of appropriately garrisoning its settlements.

In our mod, it's there to help the AI, not the human player.

Well, knight_12, human users, we are smarter ther AI, so we can protect our own towns and castels, because we can see or anticipate when an enemy army comes into our regions. So we can protect it with a few moves before sieging.

Also it simulates the way that civilians try to defend the city while they are besieged. That was pretty real in those times.

Correct. That would mean we could realise it also for the human player - so the main point is to equal out the AI imcapability exactly what would be historically right.

Well you could say that the "free upkeep" units we have count as "the local population rising to defend themselves" since you don't get charged for them.

As long as it's not an elite full-stack army w/gold chevron upgrades, e.t.c. like in XC im fine with garrison scripts.

Yes, very well mention, there are groups of local civilians, untrained, who rised to defend the town.
I am fully agree with this ideea and system.

I like to attack cities (towns, settlemens, castles) with catapults, fire gunners, there is advantage here, you can start attacking the city without end turn, so the local civilians won't rise (this is normal, it is a surprise attack)

    Yes.
Look into the FAQ (what do you think, why there is something like that FAQ?)

I know each to their own, but the garrison script makes the game harder and more challenging, teo things that Devs like us strive to achieve!
