Hey there.
I installed 6.2 today, and decided to give Norway a go on h-h after completing a sucessful Byzantine campaign in 6.1.
My only question is, where the diplomats at? I cant recruit any!? Is this a bug or a fature. And if its a fature, why?![]()

lol
You have built the needed buildings?
lol, I was hoping no one had spotted this thread. It seems playing a long Byzantum campaign had spoiled me. It amazes me that I could be this stupid after so many years of medieval 2.
lol
hahaha, stupidity get's us all sometimes! I'm a bad one for doing the exact same thing.
Holy crap 6.2 is hard!
20 turns in as Norway and Denmark suddenly breaks the alliance and moves 4 full stacks up in my territory. Dismounted huskarls and norse swordsmen, while I'm still on viking raiders. How exactly is it possible to play this game when I'm only able to pay for 1 stack myself and have to fight 4 stacks?. The odds are humanly impossible to beat in 6.2. Very hard must be more than impossible!
lol
Thing is, I have only been able to build one harbour at this point. Its arguably impossible to build any faster. I also have markets and merchants but still not enough.
lol
What difficulty are you playing on? Just in case you weren't aware, M/M on 6.2 is equal to VH/VH on 6.1:
Playing in H-HEven the rebels are giving me a hard time. Denmark attacking Skara, while at the same time rebels creeping around in Oslo. Is the AI given god mode? Because I can imagine this game being impossible in the long run. It seems the AI has 10 times as much income, 10 times the building and recruitment speed.
I still like a challenge though, but if the odds are impossible then it sort of takes the fun away because no matter what you do it will be impossible. Example : Was defending Skara with one general and two light cavalry. The attackers had one dismounted huscarl, one norse swordsmen and about 5 viking raiders as well as one norse archers. I took out the archers without any casualties, then managed to take out all the infantry with fairly heavy casualties. I was left with my general and the two units of light cavarly had combined 3 horses left. After I defeated the attackers, one turn later a full stack appeared and attacked again. Those odds are simply impossible. The AI is in god mode.
edit : In a desperate atempt to level the playing field after taking whats today modern day Sweden, I managed to get a crusader (thank you pope!) army that was left from a crusade (I took vilnius and the crusade ended) and attack Arhus since Denmark had stacks in my territory. I siege the city that only had two units of spearmen insde......and before I could take it; a full stack appears from the south and ruins my master plan waaaagh! If that had worked I could probably have killed off Denmark in my homelands, but the thing is, I decided to cheat and turned off FOW to see whats going on, and Denmark had like 5 huge cities and just an insane amount of troops all over the place. Thats when I realized competing with the AI would be futile.

lol
It's not impossible. Norway actually has a pretty sweet starting position! I'd love to snag Scandinavia booting both Denmark and Norway from my current Teutonic Order foothold on the northeast. But I have a hinting fear that once I hold it, the game's going to become too easy. Cash cow! Anyways, make the most of those spontaneous naval invasions!
I very much doubt that, as Scotland has a tendency to appear on the shores of western Norway. You would not be able to afford to keep a stack in Bergen just for protection.
edit : I did just finish a Byzantium campaign in 6.1, so I'm probably just spoiled. I need to adjust lol.
lol
Securing Scandinavia is more challenging than the actual taking of the British isles.
lol
Don't give up so easily. The AI is even at VH still horrible in battles, so try to get some heroic victories and then reattack. Just put a lot of bow and spearman in a castle (AI always attacks the same place, so find out which one) and just keep defending. Also attack from behind with ships, plunder the cities and you will be rich.
Good luck. Norway isn't that hard, but you can try France/England first if Norway is too hard for you.
Yup, not going to give up. But I'm probably going to have to start over again. I'm going to try to actually attack Denmark first. Maybe spam them with spearmen and peasants.
lol
