Is british invasion <ith Norway required?

If so, which faction should I attack. Scotland have been bugging me since turn 1 (refusing an alliance, didn't even trade map info) but Ireland looks good too. I would like to take on the fellow Scandanavians in the area though, but it seems as though the game pushes you to go towards Britain.

If your goal is to beat the campaign then yes. Just wait until the British are excommunicated and attack them. Eventually they will be at war with Scotland and France (and possibly Ireland). Attack them when they are weakend from fighting wars on multiple fronts.

It's really not so bad that the game pushes you towards the Isles. Other than Scandinavia itself, they are the richest regions around, as well as being quite easily defendable.

Were I you though, I would secure all of Scandinavia before tackling Britain. If one British faction Declares War on you first, take one of their castles, and they will attack that instead of causing trouble at home for you, giving you time to deal with the Danes.

Norway, historically, was a power on the Isles, so it's not weird the SS team pushes you towards it as Venice is also pushed toward Crimea, and so there are many other faction goals.
And yes, taking out the Danes first is wise, but it's way more challenging to take on Brittish powers and the Danes.

Why? To be close to a crusade target? Lithuania is also a crusade target and is much closer.

Because most factions have to conquer it to complete their campaign.

You should. It's way more fun if you act historically, how stupid that may be, it's a bigger challenge most of time.

I usually set my own campaign goals dependant on the history of the faction I'm playing. I also tend to read about the history of said faction between playing sessions. Having the history fresh in my mind as I play really adds to immersion for me.
