    Default About Dismounting

    Guys, when I activate dismount option for a unit, and when soldier dismounts, if I click to move soldiers, it gives empire.exe error. Do I miss something? only ''Can dismount'' = ''true'' option is not enough to make cavalry to fight as infantry also??

    Are you sure they have animations that provide for being dismounted? This may be a problem for lance armed cavalry dismounted.

    they have rider_musket_sabre animation. one another unit with this animation works fine when soldiers dismount. but a new unit that we add in our mod does not.

    I found that if I just copy ETW Dragoons and then edit them to be a different unit it works.

    Maybe it's enough to put rider_musket_sabre (or rider_musket_axe, etc.) in Animation Table? I think I will dead if I copy dragoons and change it to every hosre unit...

    Also, when I dismount some (not every) horse units, there are not any crash, but infantry which two seconds ago was a cavalary, start run somewhere... don't know where. And it's impossible to stop it: button "stop" is inactive, mounting is normal, and when I order to attack somebody - crash.

    Hello everyone,

    maybe this is nowadays a common knowledge, but i would like to share this info with others, because i had also the same problems as mentioned in this thread.

    To make a missile horse cavalry unit dismount properly in land battle (in my case Mounted Tribal Gunners and Mounted Tribal Auxiliary units) you need to not only set the "Can Dismount" parameter in units_stats_land db table to True, but also set the "File Spacing Dismounted" and "Rank Spacing Dismounted" values to i.e the same as the vanilla dragoons which can dismount by default. In my case 1,1 and 2 values for each of the column.

    Those two column headers are named in DB Editor 1.8, otherwise is difficult to find them.

    Are you sure it is not an issue of formations ? Indeed if you dismount, you have "normal" spacings that work for mounted units, and then dismounted spacings that set the space between men when they are dismounted.
