    Default BC 2.02 Hotseat file problem

    Hi all!

    We got a little problem. We'd like to start a hotseat multi game and actually did every alterations to the medi2.preference.cfg we should. Then, we modified the bc.cfg as well, but he game still doesn't let us actually play the battles. It offers only auto resolve, eventhough we modified those number to 0 in both files.

    Does any of you have a guess what could be the problem?

    Thanks a lot!

    autoresolve_battles = false ## disable forced autoresolve all battles in hotseat campaign

    That's the line. Remember: the game will rewrite the medieval2.preference.cfg file. Make it read-only after you have applied your changes.

    Default How do you enable Hotseat?

    I have BC 2.02 and I never could get Hotseat in 1.05, so I was and have been wondering what file and how did you modify it to even allow Hotsteat in BC 2.02? I'm totally stumped. Thanks for any help.

    In your main Medieval II Total War folder replace your file with this (make a copy though to have the orginal file).
    More details can be fopund here

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=135739

    It's for the original game but it can be applied to BC too

    The only cfg file I find is the MS-Dos prompt that opens after I double click the Broken Crescent Shortcut Icon on my desktop. Also will this allow hotseat on one computer, so that my I can kick my wife's ass. Thank you for your help and time.

    Where is the bc.cfg file? I'm pretty sure I've looked through ever folder and read carefully every file name, still nothing. Thank you again.

    It should be in the main M2TW folder along with medieval2.preference.cfg file.

    If it's the one called bc and it can't be opened unless you choose notepad, then I opened it, but now the game won't play, I backed up the original and replaced what I changed with the old file and it works, but otherwise, I don't see a file plainly called "bc.cfg"

    The only file with a cfg at the end of it is "headercfg"

    The plain bc file that I opened seem to be what I would need to edit, but there is no "misc" section to enter that data in.

    .cfg in an extension not a part of file's name. Just like .txt or .exe or .mp3 etc.

    If there's no [misc] section then just paste what gigantus posted:

    [misc]
    bypass_to_strategy_save = 1

    ...and the rest too.

    I see. Does it matter where this is placed in the file? I don't mean to be a burden, but I do truly appreciate your help. Thank you.

    I inserted all of that text, the game won't play. Then I deleted the original Hotseat stuff and replaced it with the stuff in the text, it played but didn't add hotseat. Is it even possible to play same computer hotseat with this game?

    Sorry, I'm of no use in this matter... But I suggest checking this thread, eventually posting in the general M2TW tech forum or asking some of the guys from Broken Crescent Multiplayer forum (don't hesitate to PM them, I'm sure they wil help you).

    These are the standard entries for the multiplayer\hot seat capability in the cfg file:

    Code:
    [misc]
    bypass_to_strategy_save = 1

    [multiplayer]
    playable = false
    ## faction mask for setting default starting factions in hotseat campaign
    factions = 1                 #1 = england, 2 = france, 4 = hre, 3 = england+france, etc

    [hotseat]
    scroll = false ## disable start turn scroll in hotseat campaign
    turns = false ## disable forced separate human faction turns (including diplomacy) in hotseat campaign
    disable_console = false ## enable cheat console in hotseat campaign.
    admin_password = password ## specify password for administrator access to the dev console when console disabled. Change 'password' to a suitable password
    update_ai_camera = true ## enable camera updates during ai turn in hotseat campaign
    disable_papal_elections = false ## enable voting in papal elections in hotseat campaign (only first valid human faction votes)
    autoresolve_battles = false ## disable forced autoresolve all battles in hotseat campaign
    validate_diplomacy = false ## disable diplomacy validation for incoming propositions
    save_prefs = true ## disable forced relevant hotseat options to be saved with game.
    autosave = true ## autosave hotseat game at start of players turn
    save_config = true ## save config file in save dir containing information about next players turn
    close_after_save = false ## close medieval II directly after a hotseat autosave
    gamename = hotseat_gamename ## sub directory name for hotseat save games
    validate_data = true ## ensure game data files used in previous save match current campaign data files.
    allow_validation_failures = false ## prevent game to load if savegame or data validations fail
    Apart from that you will need to have the following tga files in your data\menu folder:

    _M2_Hotseat_Player_PANELS
    _M2_HS_Grand_Campaign_PANELS
    _M2_Multiplayer_Campaign_PANELS

    Where do I find this file? I found the other two in my mod/stainless steel data/menu folder, but that one was not there. Can you place a file for me to download or is it somewhere in my files, I've searched with many varieties and still it hasn't come up. Thanks in advance.

    Unpack the game, the file will be in the menu\data folder then.

    I thought it was unpacked, does that mean then I would have to reinstall the mod and other mods I have now?
